I'm scheduled to be off that day and will plan on going.
I wasn't as worried last year as I am this year. It's going to be time to warm up the checkbook, grab envelopes & stamps and get all my rep's numbers. More importantly it's going to be time to rally all my associates that love to shoot, but can't be bothered to fight for not only their rights, but for the rights of their children. The apathy in this state ... a state that has an incredible amount of ranges and firearm stores ... is staggering. Time to get off our asses, time to kick the asses of those we associate with into gear and it's time to devastate the asses of the nitwits that don't understand Article 1 Section 2!!! |

Can't make the session tonight (Tuesday 6 MAR), but I have a few points that you all can free to use as you see fit, both in testimony, and in yur communications to your Legislators.
Criminals are Exempt from Registering Firearms: https://www.firearmsandliberty.com/cramer.haynes.html Discusses Haynes Vs. US (1968), SCOTUS found, in essence, that convicted felons (and by extension any prohibited persons) were NOT required to register their firearms on 5th amendment (self-incrimination) grounds. This is so shocking to most people that you will have to wait a bit, to let it sink in, before repeating it. I know it surprised some Legislators by the looks on their faces when last I mentioned it during testimony. Effects of 1994-2004 National "Assault Weapons Ban" which also included magazines over 10 rounds: https://publicintelligence.net/nij-assault-weapons-ban-study/ According US DOJ study written by C.S. Koper, the Ban, over 10 years, "did not appear to affect gun crime during the time it was in effect." The entire US had a 10-year long "AWB" that did not have any measurable effect. There are millions more of these formerly-banned firearms in existence now than during 1994-2004. RI ACLU has voiced grave concerns concerning proposed "RED FLAG" bills: http://riaclu.org/news/post/aclu-of-rhode-island-raises-red-flags-over-red-flag-gun-legislation RI Attorney General Kilmartin has about $32 million dollars on account from the "Google" settlement from a few years ago. That money could be put to good use immediately in upgrading the physical security of our schools and other similar places. WHAT ARE WE WAITING FOR? If we can build military installations overseas, and protect them against well armed, well trained enemy soldiers, we can certainly make our schools safer here. |

I left the state house around 8:30. When I was there I spoke to someone form the Second Admendment coaliation. He said we had over 4000 people there! Most for the other side(all 30) wouldn't put down their addresses, we assume they are from out of state.

I was unable to make it last night, but I was very, very impressed with the turnout.
Thank you to all that went, sent letters, made calls and anything else that helped us. All the bills heard last night have been held for further study. We still need to be vigilant so they don't try and sneak one through last year, but we're off to a much better start than I anticipated. |

Capitol Police said about 2400 people endered the building, with "vast majority" of them Pro-RKBA patriots. No "issues" reported to Cap Police.
Nicely done, folks! Rest up, and get back to work firing off e-mails and calls, focusing on House/Senate Leadership, House Senate Judiciary' Committee members, and of course your own Rep and Senator. If your Sen and/or Rep is on a Judiciary Committee, your input is doubly important, and if your Rep/Senator is in Leadership, your input as THEIR Constituent is also hugely important. Don't forget to mention that you are their Constituent! When e-mailing any of these people, concentrate on a single Bill that is before them, giving its number and title. Give them a few bullet points against the Bill (or for, as the case may be), and let it go at that. Short, sweet, and to the point. Easily read and understood. A couple of days later, do the same for another bill that's before them, and so on. Don't put everything in a single e-mail that's too long for anyone to read. There's enough good and bad bills to keep everyone busy for a while. Keep the e-mails focused on single bills, and flood them with e-mails from now on. Volume makes a difference. |
