We've been wanting to do this for a long time, and we decided this was the year we would order the target pack and get started.  Yesterday was the first NRL22 match in Casper.  Five of us got together at Stuckenhoff to test our precision rifle skills with .22's at ranges up to 100 yards, and targets as small as 1/4".  This is really good fun, and we had an awesome group of guys show up.  We'd love to see a lot more shooters in the future, so get your 22 sighted in and come play with us next month!  NRL releases the stages every month, and we're going to try and shoot them on the third Saturday.  You do not need a NRL22 membership to shoot.

Kids over the age of 8 are welcome in the Young Guns division, but it's fun for adults too!  The only specialized equipment you need is a scoped .22.

I don't have a .22 rifle. But this is cool to see more competitions in our area.

If you'd like to try it out, I'll find you a loaner rifle.

Looks like a ton of fun. Of course I haven't got a .22, though this seems like a good excuse to pick one up and grab a stuckenhoff's membership. Will send a PM to get on the email list for upcoming matches as I'm not a facebook user.

I really need to get going on building a 22 copy of my match rifle.  It would be handy to shoot cheap matches in Casper.

What's your set up, xdoctor?

I'm shooting in Open class, so I built a Tikka T1x in an MDT chassis, with a Vortex Diamondback Tactical 6-24 and an Atlas bipod on a spigot mount.  You don't have to go anywhere near this crazy to compete, I just like building stupid guns.  Someday I'll own a Vudoo, but for now, this thing shoots a hell of a lot better than I do.  Open and base class are based off MSRP of the rifle and scope.  If the current MSRP of your rig is less than $1050, you're in base class.  If I had left it in the factory stock, it would qualify for base class.

Funny you should mention building a clone.  The T1x is the exact same footprint as the T3.  I've been thinking about building a centerfire clone of this.

Here's a copy of the flyer for this month.

I'd like to reiterate, you do not need a NRL22, Stuckenhoff or Ghost Town Shooters membership to come and try it out.

That's actually perfectly reasonable. Im super interested in this, and may pull the trigger on a a Tikka soon.

MPA makes a 22 clone of my rifle, but the wife would kill me. Lol

I don't want to get involved in your marriage or anything, but if it's an exact clone, just make sure they're never in the same place at the same time and she'll never know!

That's a sweet looking rifle.  Have you done any of the NRL matches in Laramie?

I guess the November match was a lot of fun, I was stuck in quarantine and didn't get to shoot.  So I'm making up for it in December!  This month's match will be on December 19th.  Stuckenhoff has agreed to let us make some changes to the old black powder range that hasn't been used in years for these matches, so that's where we'll be.  If you're not familiar, it's through the blue gate across from the main building, toward the long range.  You can sign up in advance, or just show up on the day of the match.

NRL22 posted the December course of fire a few days ago, it can be viewed here:

It will be a while before I get into the 22 game (would need a suitable rifle). Are there any plans on a centerfire match at Stuckenhoff's?

View Quote

We'd really like to do a centerfire match, but we just don't have the steel.  We chose to do NRL22 because it's cheap to set up the club.  Centerfire is orders of magnitude more expensive.  We'll get there eventually, but it's going to take a year or two.

If you want to come shoot, you can shoot my rifle.

Been thinking of getting one of those Thunder Beast 22 take-downs. Look like a nice suppressor. Anyone know if they sell direct to customers and help with paperwork?

This month's match was loads of fun.  We had a lot of folks come from all over the state.  Make plans for the third Saturday of January to come join us!

I was forced to leave Casper last April because of work, it's starting to look like I might be returning after the first of the year. If that actually does happen, I'll be getting in on this.

This league has been growing almost every month.  We're usually getting 14-20 shooters, and I predict that as the weather gets warmer, we'll be having a lot more.  You guys should come check it out this month.  Even if you don't want to compete, come out and say hello.
