My sister-in-law is currently moving to SC. She, and her cuckold husband, are prime examples of liberal Yankees. She worships Obama, despises Trump (and all Republicans), hates guns, and has no problem lashing out at anyone that disagrees with anything a Democrat says. When asked why they are moving, she cites the high costs, high taxes, and over regulation that are making it impossible for them to retire here in CT. If you try and point out that this is all because of the Democrats (who have controlled this state for over 3 decades), she will viciously and mindlessly attack you, and defend the Democrats and their policies to her last breath.
Because just saying good morning to her can bring on an attack, I seldom speak with her, and have no idea which town in SC will be the lucky recipients of her blessed presence. I do know they have bought a house, and have started taking trips down to move stuff in.
I have always believed that there are reasons for stereotypes. While not always universally true, they can sometimes be spot on. I occasionally visit the other HTFs here on the site, just to see what is happening. I often see people in the more conservative states (what is left of them), complaining about people moving in from liberal states and "infecting" them. Liberals try to colonize and "civilize" everywhere they go, never stopping to think about the reasons they left where they just came from in the first place. My SIL and her husband are "Those People".
It is my sincere hope, that the people of SC give these two the "warm welcome" that they deserve!
Once again, I deeply apologize that these people are being inflicted on you. Not everyone in the NE is like this, but we are overpowered by the liberal masses in the cities. If I were to move to your great state, I would not try and change a thing. I would enjoy SC for SC, and not try to change it into the smoldering ruin I just left.
