This is exactly what I expected Turd to do with their new consumer protection angle in the bills. Looks like Davidson’s filed suit in Thurston County to try and stop the fishing expedition. Plenty of smaller companies would just roll over as these lawsuits could easily bankrupt them.

Sorry for the FB link but that’s the only source of info atm.

RSR hit with the same “CID”, or Civil Investigative Demand. The Consumer Protection Act angle is particularly insidious, because it has a lower threshold than a criminal complaint. Oh, and a judge doesn’t have to approve a CID, the AG’s office can just send them out.  So nearly the same power as a subpoena but with no checks and balances from the Judiciary. No “probable cause” requirement even!

Subpoenas for what info?

Nevermind, I read the link.

What is the goal of this information? Just to intimidate the industry?

This. “We want all your records to make sure you aren’t selling stuff we don’t want you to” has no legal precedence as opposed to “we want all your records as we have reasonable suspicion or probable cause that you sold something we don’t want you to.”

Of course, since when did FBF concern himself with legal precedence?

Poster on r/waguns mentioned a list of "recommended search terms" the AGs office is sending with their CIDs, to provide any documentation matching this list which pertains to communicators with any Washington based firearms dealers.

So if you look at the list he is specifically requesting information that may reveal, for example, the WA dealer complaining about him personally. LOL

I don't really get it. These companies should just tell the AG that they have filed his request in the round bin.

They legally cannot ignore him if they do business in WA. This is why they included the consumer protection clauses in the bills. He could bankrupt these companies if he gets his way.

This is demonstrable of weasely ‘lawfare’. It is clearly extending beyond the intent of public safety and a complete crusade to topple an entire, lawful industry and inalienable right we’ve had in place for centuries. In some ways, this is worse than the AWB as it carries severe risk to any vestige of RTKBA.

As we frequently observe: they don’t need to enact confiscation. All they need to do is make it so utterly painful to either be a gun owner or provider of goods and services to gun owners that the 2A going away literally takes care of itself. And if FBF gets his way suing businesses out of existence, those in ‘free’ states are also impacted as your choices of with whom to conduct business rapidly shrinks.
