WI hometown is also less active than some other states. There are fewer WI members, and they tend to be less active than other states. For instance, you can't get Texans to shut up.

I've been here a member almost 19 years. I was a paid member for a long time, then things went sour with bans of people etc, a mod mistakenly called me out on something (later apologized), but I still said fuck that & the 'pay-to-play' shit, and let it lapse.
I have 5,745 total posts (before this one). 5,740 of them were not in GD. I want no part of that insanity. I don't even go there to lurk. The only time that forum graces the screen of my PC is when there's a link to it posted right here, to something I'm heavily interested in or something local... which occurs maybe 2 times per year.  95% of my posts have been right here...the other 5% in tech forums, mostly reloading & refinishing. eta: outdoors forums. |

I have a love/hate relationship with GD. Honestly, there isn't another place in the world that is better connected to current events. It is a great source for breaking news and in-depth information from local. We have 'boots-on-the-ground' in every corner of the country and somebody will always chime in with great intel.
On the other hand, it is. . . . well, GD. You you have to wade through so much shit that it would make Mike Rowe blush. |

Years ago, the WI HTF was the first place I'd hit on here. Then they changed the layout of the site and I wound up going to GD more often.
THAT is the reason I have the post count I do. Otherwise, I'd probably have under 2k posts. I guess I represent WI HTF, for better or worse!

I work too damn much to post a lot. By the time I open a threat in gd I’d like to comment on 87 people already posted what I wanted to say. I work for a county highway department (fox valley) and drive semi hauling silage and manure on the side with 2 young boys to boot.
