Well it finally happened, empty parcel is being developed next to our neighborhood.  They want to change it from low density single family to commercial and apartments.

Any one ever seen this stopped or are we completely screwed?  Any tips would be appreciated.

Moving to a fee state isn't an option right now.

Already approved, or still subject to public hearing and a commission vote?
If it still needs a hearing you have to PACK the hearing room with opposition, and alert the media that there will be some controversy for them to report on.
Pols get less comfortable raping their constituents when the press is there to watch.
At least that is how it is supposed to work.

EVERY zoning change seems to pass here. Especially if there is a chance for some more Section 8 classes moving in.

OP said Commercial and Apartments.

I get the section 8 for apartments but commercial is not section 8.
Builders need to see a profit, construction cost are high, is there really a market for more retail space in that area or is it just going to add more vacant space?
Is someone so dumb they actually think building section 8 apartments to be immediately trashed makes sense?

If it's not a done deal already the OP should have a fighting chance, IF he can get others to join in.
