Greetings Wyoming HTF. The wife and I are currently residents of the previously free state of Nevada but with the recent elections we are concerned about the direction of the state. We are interested in moving to a more solid conservative(leave me the F, alone) state and Wyoming is on the list. We both work in healthcare and Casper has both specialties that we work in. I'm just looking for input from those who live there regarding property, lifestyle etc. thanks in advance for at input.

Property wise it's good, albeit up in the air at times, due to the nature of the oil field. Prices are decent, though can be somewhat high depending on the neighborhood, and who is showing the property. There's also companies selling off ranch plots if you want to own property larger than a normal plot.
Lifestyle - Depends on where you're at and what you're in to. But it's a nice place where kids still play outside in the street after dark and no one gets snatched up. Neighbors are good folk who look out for each other. My neighborhood has a block party every year during the summer so we can all get to know each other.
Weather...well it's Wyoming. So windy all the time and snow. But also the other three seasons. Make sure you have good insurance on your vehicles though, because you'll be replacing windshields, and don't want to get stuck paying out of pocket every time. If you can't drive in the snow or icy conditions, don't worry, you'll learn fast. One nice thing is the weather is pleasant when it's not dumping snow. Summer is warm without being oppressive, and Spring is cool and fresh.
Hunting, fishing, camping, lots of outdoor activities like trail riding and we have our own skiing area with Hogadon being on Casper Mountain. Casper has an events center that hosts concerts and special events quite frequently. There's one shooting club/range I'm aware of, a trap/skeet shooting club and motocross track in town as well. Plenty of movie theater's and places to eat.
Like the poster above mentioned there is a bit of a drug problem, meth mainly, but that is localized a lot in Mills and I haven't really noticed it dragging down the area. Cops are on top of it and work hard to stop it. Speaking of - The cops are extremely polite and professional. I've had several interactions with them and have never once felt "Respect muh authoritah!" being projected.
