Hi all,    Not looking for you to point out a tree to sit beside, just thoughts on a general area.

We will be out 2nd season this fall.   Looking at 2 areas.

1.  Seedhouse road area up towards Farwell mountain.  Just North of Steamboat Springs.  

I hunted here 3 years ago, saw some elk on other side of valley but we had 3 feet of snow and moving around was tough.

2.  Woolford mountain east towards Slide mountain, troublesome creek area.  Just north of Kremmling.

Buddy killed an elk back in 95 in this area. He thinks its better area.


Any opinions?

Wolford mtn gets hit pretty hard but there is elk in there

The "population" around Woolford is my main concern.  I understand from previous years it looks like Denver during hunting season.

Last question.

We will be out there next week.

Has it been cold enough to move the elk to lower elevation?  

Seems as though it's been warm out there.

I am thinking they may still be up top.

Weather is supposedly about to turn up there. Might cause a movement down to lower elevation.

Yeah that is what I was seeing from the weather channel.  Looks like we will arrive right at the start of the cold spell.
