I'd like to get a bear this year but I've been striking out with still hunting the last few years. Does anyone have a stand or a hotspot they would like to share?

Thanks

I don't hunt bear specifically, but I'd certainly take one if I saw it while deer hunting. I've had a couple of big bears on trail cam pics but I never see the f**kers when I'm in the woods with a rifle.

My bears don't like their pictures taken.  They like hugging the cameras.  Half the time I'll find the antennas on the cameras bent over.

Most bear pics end up like this:

One of the few I've gotten the whole bear in and it was one of the smaller ones on the property.

I see them in NH when hiking out after hunting has ended for the day. Different story when hunting in PA.

My front yard with a trail cam watching my Hillary for Prison yard sign in 2016.

I did in the past got help from a buddy who is a guide.

Not sure but you may be too late to put out a bait site now.. Read up on the F&G laws  Its been about 8 years since I did it so stuff may have changed.

Bait season this year started the same day as the hunting season.

I only know because I looked it up after seeing this thread.

ETA:  https://www.wildlife.state.nh.us/hunting/bear-season.html

ETA also, it does look like it is too late to apply for a bait permit.  Rabbit holes after rabbit holes in the links.  "If you are baiting on private property for bear, permits must be postmarked by the first Monday in August to be accepted."  https://www.wildlife.state.nh.us/hunting/baiting-wildlife.html

The application portion is what I meant sorry I did not specify

I knew bait should not be put out until the season starts.

My understanding, though, is a permit is only needed to bait someone else’s land or state land.  Landowners who bait don’t need a permit, and they can designate others to hunt on their land that the landowner baits, though they must have the bait site labeled with their name and of those he has given permission to hunt.  I hunted a friend’s bait site this past September.  I unfortunately never saw a bear.  My friend shot a small one (160 lbs).  I’m planning on going back next year.

That is correct
Pro tip: have every one in your party fill out a permit for the same site, if you as a the permit holder or landowner shoots a bear you are not allowed to place anymore bait on the site. Could shut down the site(s) in the season.
