Looking for recommendations, hoping to take one with my son. I know of Gunsite, and that's a possibility, but wondering what else I should consider. I'm assuming he needs to be 18 to take one, which is several months away.

I recommend Independence as well.  Learned some good stuff!  It was a lot of fun too!

Gunsite is great, but expensive ( I  price is now over $2k for a 5 day class. Too bad son is not younger- gunsite offers courses to juniors at 1/2 price. Also if you are an Iraq or Afghanistan vet, gunsite does one pistol and one carbine class a year free.
