My IL carry license expires in about a year.  With the current wait times with the State Police, should I do my renewal class early?  I don't want to be caught carrying with an expired license.

I think but am not sure that you have to wait until you get the notice from ISP.  Then you have 90 days to complete the training and apply.  All of the rest of us have expired CCL's or FOID's.  Mine expired in May, took training in June, still waiting.
