Just went in to buy a crappy shotgun. CBI was over 9,000 records behind as of 1630 today. Gun counter guy said they'd give me a call sometime next week.

I just bought a gun on the 10th. The background check was done before I finished filling out the 4473. This panic buying frenzy came out of nowhere.

Wonder how much of the delay is CBI and how much is NICS. Would really be nice if we could just skip the middle man and use NICS (for free) like everyone else.

CBI says they abide by the NICS rule of transferring at the end of 3 business days even if the check hasn't been completed.
InstaCheck mirrors NICS in these regulations. Specifically, we have 3 business days, by 12:00AM to return a response to an FFL. 3 Business days do not include weekends, holidays or the day that the query was made. (28 CFR Part 25) |

my neighbor, who I IMPLORED multiple times over the last 2-3 years to get a gun, get CCw, practice, etc in the salad days
nada, zip, nothing today, TODAY SUNDAY 3/22 she calls and asks if she should buy a gun. seriously, my give a damn is totally broken. |

I'm glad that business is good for the FFL's, and that likely new gun owners are being minted every day. Damn TP ain't gonna protect itself.
