Well using a local firearm classified, I had arranged with an individual to legally sell a firearm privately. The buyer provided me all of the necessary credentials to make said purchase and I proceeded to submit an electronic transfer form to the ISP for the transfer that was to take place.

Well, for what ever reason, this guy has ghosted me. I don’t mind being blown off, but this circumstance is a little more complicated. ISP now has on file my pistol belongs to someone else, when in fact it does not. Has anyone ever had to deal with this? How did you resolve it?

I must be out of touch but when did submission of weapon info by seller start for private sales? I thought you just did a simple check for valid foid.

Yes the last time I sold I firearm it simply approved the transaction and confirmed the FOID was valid. Now it requires information from both the buyer and seller, and generates a transfer number. So they do in fact have on file I sold this firearm to the clown.

I believe the fat boy in office changed the system.

Number authorizes the transfer. Doesn't mean the transfer did or has to happen. I would not sweat it.

What were you selling? Maybe someone on here would be interested. Last time I sold one privately it only required me to verify the FOID was valid.

Technically the only information that is relevant is the foid number and that it comes back as valid/active)  the make model and serial shouldn’t be stored anywhere in the isp database.  That’s why you need to keep paper copies for 10 years

I am still pissed they flat out implemented a registry for everything bought and sold in this state moving forward in the last round of gun laws they passed and nobody seems to care all that much.

How do you know noone cares. Thats why some of us didn’t like the fact they passed their universal background checks. That was the first step to implement a registry.

It was a combo of the Gun Dealer Licensing Bill that Pritzker illegally signed into law after Rauner Vetoed it, please note that FFL's are required to log all firearms electronically in a way that the State of Illinois can access any time they want:

So now we not only have a registry we have police going door to door seizing firearms for the public good. Pritzker and his supermajority of democrat party loyalists running congress have been the worst thing to happen to firearm owners in Illinois in my lifetime and I hope everyone that sat out voting for Rauner because of whatever whiny reason they could come up with is happy.

Dont disagree with you about much except Rauner. He torpedoed the conservative in the primary and then admitted he didn't campaign for reelection and wanted out.

He wasn't perfect, and I wont pretend he was, but in any way he was bad, Pritzker was quantifiably worse.

Also, if you exclude Cook county from the election results he won the rest of the state, conservatives here absolutely always have to get out to vote every time to outvote Cook because even a lackluster R governor would have prevented this worst case scenario we are in now.
