It is a rare occurrence when they are able to stage a write-in campaign to reject a party candidate. IIRC, it happened in Connecticut a dozen years ago with a U.S. Senate race.

Maybe there are a few (very few) sparks of intelligence up there.

if he had spent 1/10 the effort in the primary that he did in the general he woud have simply won the primary and been an automatic in the general
