Louisiana resident, purchasing a new boat and trailer from dealer in Florida. The dealer is telling me that Florida requires non-residents to pay a 6% tax if it hits their roads…which it will be, I’ll be picking it up and towing it home.

I’m going to have to register (and pay tax) in Louisiana too. Anyone know if that’s legit?

A quick call to one of the Tax Collectors Offices would answer that for sure... sounds legit though.

Louisiana should give you a credit for tax paid. I'd make a few phone calls to verify, but I've bought a few vehicles out of state and FL always credits me what I paid in other states.
