Westside of town. They fly, I believe on Tuesdays, maybe Wednesday’s. Usually early afternoon. There a park in the Navy Point area that you’d be able to watch them. I see them flying all the time when I’m on that side of town.
Should be able to see them from Ft. Pickens pretty good as well

For the ultimate viewing, you can’t beat the Lighthouse

Civilians currently aren't allowed on base unescorted.

You can try Fort Pickens, find a charter boat to watch it from the bay, or Navy Point. A boat will probably get you the best experience.

If you are coming from Destin try to find a charter in Gulf Breeze, Pensacola Beach, or Navarre. The bridge from the East to West over the bay is not operating*, this will add 30min-1hr to your drive*, do the charter.

*If you come to Pensacola, take I10 from Destin instead of Hwy98, you're going to end up on I110 anyway. Tons of people are using their vehicle's Nav w/o any sort of traffic/route update turned on and become quite upset when they realize there isn't a functioning bay bridge, oops.

So I had read they were supposed to do partial reopening of the bridge, I assume that hasn't happened yet??

The new date is by Memorial Day, I don't know if it is partial or full for the west to east span. I would not bank on it being done by the end of May, all the missing pieces are still missing lol, their dates aren't even worth listening to.

The bridge company wanted to complete the entire span's repairs, the barely functional morons that make up this area's elected officials kept pushing the company and FDOT to just open the bridge up, just something! (insert whiney tone). The bridge company said partially opening the span will actually delay a complete opening even longer than if they just let them finish the damn span. Nothing in this area ever gets done in any sort of efficient manner or time*. Personally I think the bridge is a POS and this won't be the last of its problems.

*I10 bridge being an exception, but that was Federal and considered a National Security type issue, that bridge got designed and built FAST, 24hr non-stop work. This 3mi bridge, they didn't work 24/7, they has to stop for the sturgeon migrating/spawning, silly shit like that. The crews that work are great people, everyone else sucks.
