From the BOD..please read
It is with the greatest regret that we (Dale Tweedy, Judy Tweedy, Bob Brown and Ken O’Rouke) are
resigning effective immediately from the Boulder Rifle and Pistol clubs board of directors. We feel that
all the hours and effort that we are putting in, are not getting the results that are befitting the members
or the club. It is not fair to put the other club members through all of this. We are at a point where we
do not want to continue putting the extra strain on our physical and mental health.
I personally want to thank Bob, Ken and Judy for all the great accomplishments that they have made
with moving the club forward. There is no way it could have been done without all the long hours and
hard work that they put into each and every project.
It has been our honor to work with some of the best volunteers we have ever been associated with. We
know that we might forget someone or a group, but still want to recognize all of them.
? All the RSO’s and range clean up volunteers. It is unbelievable the amount of work and
hours these folks give.
? Can not say enough good things about Jim and Dario, thank you for all you do.
? Mark, Vicky and Nancy their jobs never end, and they are the absolute best at what they
? Our Training department, who has stepped up and are now recognized as a top-level
training group.
? The JR’s program, which has grown and should be so very proud of what they are
teaching our youth.
? Rick and Doug who have taken on special projects.
? All the shooting disciplines and their volunteers who setup, tear down and run such
great events for not only our members but anyone wanting to participate.
? Larry, you put in more time and knowledge with all the extra things you do for the Boy
Scouts, Civil Air Patrol, High School Students and all the drone work.
Dale, Bob, Ken and Judy

Got the same in an email.
Did a little digging and apparently it had to do with dealings with the BC mayor,  city council and a few woke folk.
Volunteer jobs are thankless and taxing on ones self.  Hope it gets straightened out.

Hopefully someone can attend and fill us in. I will be out of town.

Some board members resigned.  No explanation.
The $75 range improvement fee couldn't be charged to BC residents without being approved by the city council  per the lease agreement so it had to be refunded.
Updates to the bylaws needs to be done but a full board of trustees needs to be in place before any changes can be made.
BC is suggesting "demanding " at least 3 BOD members be BC residents.  A special election will be held to fill the vacant seats.
And no more relatives serving consecutively on the BOD.

Did I miss anything  Tony or John?

I was in attendance of the meeting this afternoon. The actions of the now resigned BOD has the clubs very existence in jeopardy with the city, as they flagrantly breached the city’s generous lease terms with the shortsighted fee increase.

This, along with the sudden resignations has triggered some concerns.

An audit of the financials is needed. It's in the bylaws to have a yearly audit. There hasn't been one in 2 years per the meeting today.

Last year the savings account had about 500k (roughly) last year. With the fees being doubled that meant over 450k added last November (of which $37,500 was refunded due to contract limitation of no more than $75 per BC resident[500]).10k a month +/- from public range fees adds another 120k +/- in a year period. Disciplines remit a portion of the entry fee back to the club. This means in the ballpark of 1.1+/- Million was likely the cash asset before expenses. Currently there is around 300k remaining in account, so 800k+/- was spent in 11ish months. Read, these are rough numbers pending specific accounting details.

Per the meeting: Currently the plan is an agreed upon “procedures audit.” Which from research is normally a narrow audit whose scope is designed from the outset by the customer and doesn't encompass the entire financial situation. With a specified document describing deficiencies and recommended resolution(s) issued at the end.
This is alarming. Further details of the audit are pending.

A 3rd party CPA/accountant audit was brought up and the response a stiff: "then you pay for it."

Ideally the audit performed would include all financial statements, all accounts, and be a full accounting. Forensic audit.

What went where and why? Who spent it?

How does the club go from a surplus on hand of 500k, and spend 150% of that in 11 months?

There isn't a current financial need to continue the yearly fee doubling members are seeing (went from $75 to $150, with 3,000 members).

It was brought up that the intention/desire is to, for the first time ever, hire a full time range care indidual. Historically it has been a volunteer  organization to this point. It seems there are big plans for expenses that should be disclosed to the membership. Since our fees are being doubled because....?

Currently the resigned BOD are considered members in good standing per the legal counsel that attended the meeting. Steve Morris is the lawyer who conveyed much of the message after introduction by Mike Pacini (VP and last remaining board member, who accepted the other BODs resignations). Seems to me the occurrences that led to this point need to be disclosed. Prior board members opined its a thankless job and expressed thanks for their efforts (the resigned board). Which is admirable, but a side step to addressing what happened. We have seen the biggest changes in the club in the last year leading up to this point. What happened and why? The board was voted in to represent we the membership, transparency would be a great step towards resolving this issue.

The most troubling thing about this whole mess is that the city will be instituting a “Nuclear option in the lease agreement “ That being the they can cancel the lease agreement for “convenience “ with a six month notice.  This is very concerning as they could shut the whole place down if they feel things are not going well.  The attorney feels that this is unlikely but they will have the option.

That’s always been part of the lease, and that’s what the board put into play with their money grab.

The city likes the range, and wants it to continue in perpetuity. This antagonistic position was initiated by the old board, the Tweedy’s specifically, which is why it’s essential to get to the bottom of everything that happened during their tenure.
