3 shots.

I’m sure discharging an AR in Beachwood draws some attention.

ETA: At the cemetery there or..?

I know a cop on scene with an angry bull.  Owner couldn't get him in a trailer, said go ahead and do what yiu gotta do.  Buddy said the guy put two ad a time into the head until he was empty.  He could remember if it was a 23 or a 22, but Glock 40 he was sure of.  Said they've done several deer with 2 to the head.

Grass lot just west of the Signature Square buildings. It was loud, no suppressor.

Edit - gave her 2 rounds and she kept staggering along, trailing blood. Shot three put her down.

My department's policy specifically forbids the use of our ARs to euthanize animals.  It designates our 870s as the preferred weapon, and specifically instructs officers to target the heart and lungs.  We get quite a few deer calls, these days, so I've been to a few (at least as a supervisor).

It's always weird to watch someone dispatch a deer in someone's front yard while neighbors gawk from their porches.

We mostly use our pistols, and they are point black headshots.  I know of a couple that got the AR treatment, but they were down in a deep ravine.

95% of our folks are not willing to or don't know how to kill animals.  Dispatch knows who to call when something needs put down.......

Sometimes....

They used to call me to take the fresh ones.  After a few, I learned there is generally very little salvageable meat after one gets smoked by a car.  The first one was injured badly.  They called me and I was there in 30ish minutes.  Three of them stood there letting the thing suffer because they were afraid to shoot it.  So I took one of their pistols and put it down.  That's not a fun story.......

Yes. 3 shots.

Cop could've easily euthanized it with one to below the ear. I wonder if he interpreted the twitching as a sign of it still being conscious.

Suppressed AR or pistol shot to the head. Quick and easy.

I always carry a sharp skinning knife and few clean bags for the back straps. They're the easiest to cut out along the road while waiting on the road crew to pick up the carcass. You can usually tell right away if there's any damage to the meat and if it's worth it to cut out.

I should have grabbed a knife and some freezer bags from the work kitchen and run outside to the scene
