Anybody familiar with this flag and its meaning/ origin? Seen it the other day but haven't been able to come up with anything.

With that style palm and a death's head it looks more like some sort of Afrika Korps flag but google images doesn't come up with anything (not surprising, especially if it's German). Never seen one before and I don't really know anything about German units, past or present.

Hit up the SC Confederate Relic Room & Military Museum?
1837. I vaguely remember reading something recently about fraternal societies filling a citizen militia role in the run up to the CW/WoNA. They paid in alcohol.  It could be the emblem of an 1800s SC fraternal organization? I didn't get a match on Google image search, but many similar from SC. Some were from the Relic Room.

Where’d you see it?
The Totenkopf and the 18 are definitely symbols associated with extremist groups. The dead palmetto makes me think it’s the SC chapter of such a group |

I was also thinking it could be some pre-Civil War SC militia service but I think the 18th Infantry Regiment was more Midlands to the Upstate. |
