IIRC, non-resident application dates have expired for the year, unless they changed it this year.

If application dates are still open, look west and North of Casper for good goat hunting. There is tons of public land all over Wyoming, and you should invest in a Garmin and land ownership micro SD. Rancher's get pissy with trespassers.

Non resident is still open for antelope. You have until May 31st to apply. I put in for myself and my wife last week. You should put in for 2 doe tags and 1 buck tag with a preference point. More than likely you will not get a buck tag your first try which is why you want to do the buck with a preference point this time so you can hopefully get one next year by using the preference point.

IIRC buck w/ pref point was $370 and does were $50 each. Plus the $12.50 conservation fee if you do draw. What ever you do not draw you get a refund on your credit card. Get registered on the WY game & fish website and go put in for your tags tonight so you don't forget.

More than likely you will get your doe tag(s).

I hunt zone 9 only because I go with friends who live out there and they know the area extremely well. I expect Zone 11, 9, and 8 would be good to apply for.

Whatever zone you draw for print off maps for that area. IIRC WY G&F have some maps to print out that show public or open land to hunt. There are apps you can pay for that do the same and are probably more accurate.

Be prepared to do a lot of driving in your vehicle. Bring a good set of binos and a good range finder. You will be driving from public land to public land all day looking for the antelope and you will check the same places 2-3 times a day. You also need to be prepared to face quick action shooting by getting out of your vehicle/getting over the fence/taking a shot and for distance shooting. You can ride around with your firearm loaded in your vehicle to help make things quicker, just be careful and follow the safety rules.

The antelope don't like it when they see a vehicle stop so use the terrain to hide your vehicle if you spot one/herd.

Watch out for badgers and people from Colorado. Use a 10mm at a minimum.

I cannot in good conscience say it is all people from Colorado. I am positive there are some great people there.

I will say that with the two that I met while out physically hunting, one was a lying sack of crap, and the second was willing to go along with it.

Outside of that there were some interesting driving decisions made by people with Colorado plates.

FYI OP: I just got back to WI from WY. I was out for a long weekend and it was great even with the poor weather on the east side of the state. There are some nice Antelope out this year and I am pumped for the season.
