Hot summer day, mountain river clear enough to see the bottom, roadside diner that sells ice cream cones and a damn good cigar. Life is good in East TN, fellas.

If you go to Townsend, be sure to ride the Foothills Parkway. Especially the section between Walland and Wears Valley (321). Long sweeping curves and pull-offs with great views. Very similar to Cherohala.
