It's that time of year again. Looking for a weekend getaway within 2-3 hours of SLC. We really like the B&B scene. Nice local restaurants are a bonus.
Any recommendations south within that driving distance? Maybe in Circleville so I can chase a little Butch Cassidy history? I also like the Mount Pleasant area. Park City area? Need to wander through the old cemetery there too. A few places we've done: Blue Boar Inn Homestead Zermatt (sucked) Alaskan Inn (meh) Anniversary Inn (ok) Compass Rose Lodge (probably our favorite) Stein Eriksen Daniel's Summit |

Virgin River Hotel and Casino in Mesquite is a genuine one star motel for $ 35/night!

We don't mind the casino scene but I would rather just go to Vegas. We did that a few years ago. Took her to the chapel from the movie Fools Rush In and had Elvis walk her down the aisle. |

We did Zermatt a few years ago, hoping for a peaceful anniversary weekend…
Youth cheerleading competition being held there made sure it was anything but peaceful. Asked staff about any chance of getting a room away from the circus and you would have thought we asked for the presidential suite and their first born. Will never go back. There was not a square foot of that place that had any quiet space. Even locked in our room you could hear screaming kids running up and down the halls and the typical self righteous cheer parents doing nothing to control their crotch fruit. Gee, thanks. I really enjoy shelling out that kind of money at a resort touted to be high end only to feel like we were at Disneyland. |

We spent a couple of days in Midway at the Blue Boar years ago and did Zermatt for dinner one night. The restaurant was great. Stayed there two years ago and it was just like any other hotel but priced higher. Kids screaming in the hallways. No one dresses up even a little to go to the restaurant. Wouldn't stay there again.

Found a couple of awesome looking hotels in Bluff but that's a long drive for a weekend trip. I think we'll just head to Park City for the weekend and hit a couple of our favorite restaurants. There's an old cemetery with several family members that immigrated from Scotland to work in the mines we haven't documented yet.
