I don't know of anyone in your area but I've heard The Rock Guns in Fayetteville has done some AK work. I asked them about doing a rear trunion swap but I didn't feel confident in what the worker at their counter was telling me nor did they have any examples from their gunsmith. I asked Shooters Supply in Fayetteville and their owner said he sold off his AK tooling to Phase 5 Supply, who I currently doing work on my AK. The only thing he can't do is weld. Not sure what you are looking for but there is my 2 cents.

I don’t know what his contact info is, or if he’s on ARF. But there’s a guy in the Triad that gets rave reviews over on CFF. If you’re not a member there, come on over. Here’s an example of his work: AK build
