50 years ago today, Brent & Centreville were devastated by a tornado. My family lived in Centreville then. I still remember that day. I had gone to the beach with my grandparents and we had returned to Marion that afternoon. We saw the storm in the distance, that eventually hit Greensboro, and then moved into Bibb County. Lots of lightning, and then the power went out for us and we went to bed. We didn't know what had happened until the next day. A few days later, I went home, and the devastation made a big impression on me. There was eventually a story written about that day in Readers Digest. I have that copy somewhere.
