On Friday, July 2 representatives of KC3's Board of Directors and representatives of the Board of Commissioners of the Louisville Metro Housing Authority met to discuss the firearm ban on all property owned by LMHA. The outcome of that meeting is that all signs placed on the entrances to LMHA residential buildings will be immediately removed. This removal started Friday and should be completed by the end of next week. I had the honor of removing the first one with a razor scraper. A "good faith" effort will be made to finds all "placards" and "stickers" on vehicles and out-buildings with the same or similar messages and any signs posted in the hallways, lobbies, laundry rooms, rec. rooms, meeting rooms and elevators of the buildings. All of them will be removed. That process may take a while. Any signs in "open spaces" owned by LMHA will also be removed. At the next regularly scheduled monthly meeting of the LMHA Board of Commissioners, a vote will be taken to rescind all references to firearms in LMHA policies, regulations and rules. The relevant documents will be amended. All attempts to enforce any of this will cease immediately.
This is a result of KC3 receiving a report of "No Firearms Allowed" signs on LMHA buildings that I posted about earlier here: https://www.ar15.com/forums/Hometown/Gun-ban-at-the-Louisville-Metro-Housing-Authority/27-655098/
There are over 2,600 residential housing units, some are single and some are family units, and approximately 1500 employees, out-buildings, fences, gates and vehicles affected by this illegal ban. Nobody knows how many signs are in open spaces. Residents and visitors to LMHA property as well as LMHA employees will now have the same right to self defense as all other Kyians.
These signs are being removed solely because somebody reported them to KC3. We can't be everywhere or see everything. If you see any "No Guns" signs or any issue involving guns that you don't think is legal or proper, let us know about them.
