@Sethelarian @Meggers_f4i Scratch that, the locals have things they call jobs, they can't make it. Anyone else up for dinner in Waco? |

Waco antique/C&R show has 43 tables, $5 today & tomorrow. I counted 15 non-C&R Title 1 guns scattered amongst the vendors, despite the advertising for the show. Plenty of parking in NW Waco.

Mind, I have no idea where we're going til I get to the show and check w/ the dealer wives. Dunno if they're still going to that steak place east of Mesquite or not. We did Texas Roadhouse one night & that was good, we just had to wait. |

We ended up going to Mesquite BBQ again. Delicious food, but lousy parking. I'm gonna propose Ol' South Pancake House for dinner after the show next week:

@AKjakeSKS is looking for someone to install a Timney Glock trigger.
Is this something the Glock guy at all the shows would do? Also why would their trigger be more challenging or different than a stock trigger? |

i set up at Athens on Saturday only since i have to work 7p-7a Sunday night and cannot do it without sleep. Actually did pretty well. Mostly local people came through, not many people from far off. Guess no major highways to big cities made the long distance crowd go elsewhere, as well as Big Sandy being easier to get to from Tyler and Longview which are some of the closest cities that have much population. Quite a few from Canton to the north, and lots of people came out of the woods in the surrounding areas it seemed. About 45-50 or so tables (i never actually counted) in a room made for 100 made it seem smaller. i actually sold and traded a bunch of my gun junk and sharpened more knives than i would have thought in an area with so many non city dwellers.
Went to Big Sandy after church on Sunday since it was only a few miles out of the way. Seems about the same number of tables, but in a smaller venue to they were packed in pretty tight seemed to make it bigger. Without actually counting i could not be sure. Did pretty well there too. Traded into a trijicon TA11 with crosshairs setup for 308 with an extra Gisele mount. Problably going on my M5 build i'm playing with.... Both shows seemed well attended at least by locals. But i do with the promotors would get their acts together and not have shows so close together at the same time. Think they were about 60 miles apart is all. If it had been interstate between them instead of highways through so many small towns it would have probably been worse though. But a good time was had by all i think. |

View Quote Thanks for the report. See you in Mesquite next weekend? Next weekend there's a show in Shreveport & one in Bossier City, go figger... |

See you in Mesquite next weekend? Next weekend there's a show in Shreveport & one in Bossier City, go figger... We ended up hitting Big Sandy, Athens and Fort Worth last Sunday. I guess it all depends on what you are looking for but I could have skipped the Athens show and been fine. It will be interesting to see the Shreveport and Bossier show this weekend. Bossier has been decent historically but seems to have had problems at times selling tables at several shows in recent history. The Shreveport show is hit or miss for sure. I went to one there when he was first starting and seriously thought about asking for my money back. It was just tables of Chinese knives, purses and BS. Maybe 2 tables of guns. It’s improving I think but I don’t think he can pull a lot of his Texas show venders over here for some reason. |

No show in Shreveport until next year. I just talked to him and he canceled it because the Bossier show got added on the same day. He is running about a 100 table show in El Darado Arkansas this weekend instead.

Anyone up for dinner in the Mesquite area tonight? RebleYell and tacton are at the Mesquite Rodeo show, might actually get tacton to come out to dinner. HenryKnoxFineBooks was going to try to make it, Motown_Steve is playing hooky today. |

Denton show is well attended and the parking is free and with shade if you can find a spot under the solar panel. I-35 is torn up nearly to 114.

I have to say that Denton is probably an even better show than Waco for Winchester lever actions, Colt Lightnings, & Colt SAAs, as well as contemporaries, predecessors, and descendants. I saw a number of Volcanic pistols, many pinfire, rimfire, and muzzle-loading revolvers, with the most modern being a couple of M1 carbines and a few M-1 Garands. There are a handful of modern bolt actions & pump shotguns at the show, but if you're into old stuff, this is your Mecca. A very good warm up for Tulsa.

Waxahachie was a bit slow on a Sunday afternoon, but now has a second room, with some non-gun vendors in the entrance hall - you didn't even have to pay an entrance fee to pick up a vest and plates. Plenty of parking and 287 from Fort Worth has now been fixed, no giant traffic jam.
Cisco is a small show, Fort Worth is the largest in the state next weekend. |

Got an email about Longview, the front entrance to Maude Cobb will be closed due to some kind of work on the driveway there. We will be in the old Longview Exhibit Center building anyway, so entering from D C Drive will be a better way to go anyway. Should be there tomorrow as long as these storms do not blow everything away out here.

If you are planning to attend the NRH show, be aware that it is only the small side of the facility opposite the actual skate rink.
Most normal DFW vendors are not there. That said a few are and because it was such a slow looking show, I bet some may be willing to deal tomorrow to cover their costs. I heard many vendors complaining that it wasn’t worth setting up. |

Went to Longview today. Talked with Jeff. A lot of people there. Good selection of firearms, not a lot of action tho.

I may not go down in history, but I will go down on your little sister.
