Per Captain Ian Hay, (John Hay Beith), Argylle and Sutherland Regt, WWI, the Army Staff consist of three departments: 1) Round Games (Practical Jokes to us Yanks.) 2) Surprise Party––and not the nice kind. 3) Fairy Godmother. The Fairy Godmother Department is staffed by one (1) GS5, who has been working there since WWII. She is usually in the ladies room, at a doctors appointment, or campaigning for Obama. Occasionally she makes it to her desk and puts down her coffee and does something nice, i.e, SFC Drang gets to spend his last year in the Army drawing full crew pay as we;ll as overseas, separation, and language pay; or, SGT Hat Morty Jive gets to come home instead of staying at Ft Knox. The price, of course, is that SFC Drang gets extended in Korea until his retirement date––an extra 7 months in Korea––and SGT Hat Morty Jive can't go to LCR. ETA: Whether I go, and whether Mrs. Drang accompanies, depends on how much fun we have in Reno for the Gun Blogger's Rendezvous...

(I was injured (NOT wounded) and aggrivated a pre-exsisting injury while deployed) I should fly to Calif on the 12th, inprocess the CBWTU (Community Based Warrior Transition Unit) on the 14th, and finally fly home on the 18th. I've been on active Duty orders and gone for right at 15 long months, and I'm ready to be home for a while. |
