I gotta ask. Would anybody else get away with shooting a drunk driver for the sake of public safety?

For that matter, if you tazed someone and they immediately had a traffic accident, would you be considered at least partly responsible?

If a cop bought a kid a cup of coffee these days, I'm sure some folks would post that he was grooming him for sexual exploitation. Or at the very least, bitch about the fact that he's sipping coffee instead of out there solving crime like he's supposed to be doing.

No matter what cops do, there are some folks that will always be looking for a way to hang 'em.

I have tried to stay quiet, but I will now say this much:

After going there Friday night and seeing the parking spot, the evidence marking paint (numbered 1,2,3,4,5,6 and so on), seeing the fence (which is not even buckled in any way by the way) and talking to 2 of the 4 people who actually watched the whole thing unfold (yup there were only 4 out on the smoke deck when it went down) I have come to this conclusion: IF he was shot just because he rolled the car forward (on purpose or not) then in my OPINION it was NOT justified.

Now, on the other hand, after being there and talking there is a peice of information that has not been reported, mabye because the media has ignored it or mabye the information is not correct........but the information related was that after rolling (yes they said rolling) forward, he then gunned the engine and threw it into revers......now, IF this is true, and keeping in mind where all the evidence markers are located painted on the ground, then there would have been at least once cop in the path of the rig........and not 20 feet away. ALL the markers are within just a few feet of where the car sat in the slot. IF he tried to go in revers he would have squished a cop..........additionally, with the white pickup truck BETWEEN the smoke deck and the vehicle it would have been very difficult for those on the smoke deck to see the reverse lights come on..........

BUT, even with this info (which MAY be flawed) I am still going to wait untill more information comes out.

No use arguing and yelling at each other over it..........is fighting going to change the fact that he died or that any of it happened? Will arguing change the outcome of the investigation?

It was a sobering experience being there Friday meeting people who knew him and talking to those that were there.....inside and out.

Are you referring to Aaron Roberts (2001)? If so your description of the incident differs a lot from what was reported to have happened.

Go to the scene and look ath the evidence markers.......there were officer between thier cars and his......how else would they have attempted to taze him? His car may have not been able to get very far due to the patrol cars, but it could have done alot of damage to the cops who were standing there....IF he actually thrwe it in reverse.......the shots were not to keep his car from moving......apparantlly someone thought someone was in danger.

I've never once said this was a good shoot. Rather, I've pointed out the vast amount of variables and the lack of any real facts in this incident.

I said it before and I'll say it again.... wait for the true story to come to light. Sounds like the incident is already changing....
