....Well I survived Friday and no one came and tapped me on the shoulder! I just might survive this thing! Actually I think it's possible that the HR Libtards might let this thing blow over. They didn't get the reaction from me that they wanted when they tried to push my buttons and the fact that another friend of mine stood up for me when they hauled his ass in the day before might give these guys reason to pause.

Okay, let’s say it’s Engineer of the Year (and not Black Engineer of the Year) and heavens forbid that a minority was selected.  Based on your comments on this thread, you are probably the type who will say:  “He was selected because he is a minority.”

Last year at work during the cultural/ethnic weeks, someone asked me when is the WASP (White Anglo-Saxon Protestant) week.  I told him:  “I’m surprised you missed it, it’s 52 weeks every year.”

When I was in the Navy there was this red neck from the South who married an Asian girl.  So I guess he not prejudiced, right?  You should hear him talk about Asian this, Asian that, Black this and Black that.  I guess he is not prejudiced because he is married to a minority.

You Sir (and the WASP person above) need to attend some serious sensitivity training.  And it’s the ultimate low to use your daughter-in-law as an example to cover your tracks.  I’m sure she will be very thrilled about that fact.

Based on the responses on this thread, I’ll probably in everyone’s $hit list now.  Oh well, I’m entitled to my own opinions.

Yup, you are on my $hit list, and you can keep your opinions. You came in here shoving your socialist doctrine down people's throats and I don't like people tell me how to act. My views are based on decades of real world experience and all the sensitivity bullshit was eradicated by having to interact with cold-blooded, hard-hearted assholes who just want what's mine, for themselves.

You might prefer to find some like-minded naive, idealistic people to hangout with instead, just having an AR isn't going to win my respect.

We have people across the political spectrum in here, with a diverse ethnic and cultural backround. We don't agree on a lot of things, but we respect each other's right to their own views, even if their view sucks.

That's where you left leaning anti-white racist attitude just blasts thru to the rest of us.  YOU are the one who thinks that all caucasian people who are not ashamed to be caucasian are some form of racist.

Last year at work during the cultural/ethnic weeks, someone asked me when is the WASP (White Anglo-Saxon Protestant) week. I told him: “I’m surprised you missed it, it’s 52 weeks every year.”

Why don't you take a minute and explain that little bit of racist anti-caucasian bullshit for the rest of us.  Why are you so offended that this country was built upon a set of freedoms and rights that were put into writing and into law by a "bunch of WASPs"?   If left wing hate mongers such as yourself took a moment to allow them to function as designed you would not need SPECIAL RIGHTS FOR MINORITIES.

If you had ever read the Constitution, you will notice that it does not exclude any group from any of the mentioned "rights".  What bothers YOU is that those rights apply to people you hate, namely caucasian-americans.

When I was in the Navy there was this red neck from the South who married an Asian girl.

Why don't you go ahead and tell use why you get a pass when it comes to calling caucasians offensive names?  The language seems to indicate you are rather prejudiced and a bit of a hate-monger yourself.  Did this mans asian wife offend you?

Based on the responses on this thread, I’ll probably in everyone’s $hit list now. Oh well, I’m entitled to my own opinions.

Sure you get an opinion.  The simple fact is that since you are a left wing socialist, racist anti-american piece of shit means some of us don't care for it.

Oh, and the "african-american engineer of the year" was selected because he was black, not because he engineered anything worth a shit.  If he had engineered anything of value, he would have simply been the "Engineer of the Year".   If you are not willing to select the "caucasian engineer of the year" as well, then you have a racist program to praise the unworthy in a simple minded effort to make them feel like they belong.  It is demeaning to people of all races to exclude them from inclusion simply because of their race and limit them to being the "best minority".

Let me risk an assumption, here.

From what I've read of Patty's posts on Arfcom, I do NOT think she was trying to "rattle your cage", but looking for a "point of view" instead.

Something that bothers me is the "Hyphenated American" ,, just seems (to me) to be more devisive than helpful.

"Irish-Jewish-African-Italian-(etc)- American" puts ethnicity ahead of "American" , (from my point of view) when we should be considering ourselves as "Americans  (who have many different backgrounds)" .

E Pluribus Unum  is my guiding philosophy in this.

With that said, let me rephrase Patty's question.

CavVet, do you consider yourself  "American  (who happens to be of African descent)" ? ,
, or do you consider yourself "African (who happens to be living in America)" ?

Respectfully submitted by an "American  (of  mongrel descent) " ;

So discrimination in the work place does not exist?

There is this outfit (I will not name names) that recruits engineers in Montana State and University of Montana exclusively.  Why not University of Washington?  Ahhh, too many minorities at UW, heavens forbid, they might have to hire them.  Take a guess how many minority engineers they hired in the past three years.

Also, in this same outfit, everyone in upper-level management is Caucasian and only one minority in the next level.  Maybe minorities are not good enough?  Folks, whether you want to believe it or not, discrimination (even reverse discrimination) happens in the work place.

Just out of curiosity, how many non-Caucasian members are there in your GF shooting group?  The reason I asked this, there was a person who goes by Gun Equals Freedom (GEF) from Whidbey Island who publicly bashed minority/ethnic groups it this board in 2001-2002 and got away with it.  One day he posted that him and his motorcycle buddies were going up the mountains to go shooting over the weekend.  I asked him if non-Caucasians are allowed to join them.  He said: nope, sorry.  END OF STORY, LAST POST, I’M GONE!

I have been here since the old board, as have a number of others. There has never been anyone bashing any minority or ethnic groups in here,  and if they did they damn sure wouldnt "get away with it".

And to answer your curiosity you need to bring your ass to a shoot.

I have never declined to shoot with anyone of any color.  Color does not effect shooting inspite of what you heard from a guy on Whidbey Island.  The best bullseye pistol shooter in the entire country is white/caucasian/cracker, light skinned or whatever.  His side kick, the guy on the line next to him during team matches also happens to be black/african-american/non-hispanic.  The best shooter on my team this year was black.

I happen to live in an area that is about 94% caucasian.  I didn't check when I moved here, I didn't care.  NewToyAR15, seems to have a serious stigma and some weird desire to interact with mixed race groups on every occasion. Do you avoid your folks because they were both white and refuse to come to Thanksgiving unless they invite a black man and write an apology to the indians??

As with most mature adults, I am more concerned about spending time with people who have similar interests, skill sets and abilites.  Race is an issue to racists and left wing socialists who want to demean and belittle people by refusing to recognize them as being the same.  You are more afraid of a black man than anyone here.  God forbid he was an equal and not simply the best "african-american".

If you want to make up for the past, do it by including everyone in the future.  Come on socialist,,,avoid responding by telling us about another "un-named company or person someplace who said something that made you think they were a racist".

Other than bitch, what have you done for our african-american brothers?  Because I voted to hire a guy from Rawanda last year, he is a REAL African-American.  He is mystifed since what we call black people seem pretty damn light skinned and have never seen Africa.  He got hired because he had the qualifications.  No consideration of race was given.

So was it racist to hire him?

Where are your posts complaining about La Raza or The Nation of Islam. They have both said they would like to see me dead for the color of my skin. Are you defending me on their websites?

I have nothing to be ashamed of. I was never a gangbanger, I never owned a slave. I have been beaten and pushed around at gunpoint by white, black and brown people when I was unarmed and going about my personal business in a legal manner.

It's not an intellectual exercise for me. It's survival. I don't tell people how they should live and I don't let others tell me how to live, even if it might help me.

I'm not reaching out, striving for the acceptance of a critical society, I try to stick with people who want to get along with me. If you don't like me now, you're gonna hate the way I react to your recommended improvements.

I'm not reaching out, striving for the acceptance of a critical society, I try to stick with people who want thought and appreciate it. If you don't like me now, you're gonna hate the way I give my thoughts on my navel  (when I'm done contemplating it)

Havin thought ain't an intellectual exercise for me. Its survival. I don't tell people if they're funny and I don't let others tell me if I am, even if it might help me. Laugh one off.

So go ahead and label some gullible new bastard funny after you get your intellectual deep-thought credentials. I graduated from that skool a long ago. I'm thoughtful now, because the street "ain't" no schoolyard.

[pounding my chest on a precipice as the flag waves behind me and Godbless America plays in the background].... HOOOOOOYAH! VIVA LA INDIVIDUALISM AND (of course) ME!!

Okay, let’s say it’s Engineer of the Year (and not Black Engineer of the Year) and heavens forbid that a minority was selected.  Based on your comments on this thread, you are probably the type who will say:  “He was selected because he is a minority.”
(You all read it, so I snipped it!)
Based on the responses on this thread, I’ll probably in everyone’s $hit list now.  Oh well, I’m entitled to my own opinions.

Sorry for the long post, but I think it needs to be said to Mr. NewToyAR15, and maybe a few others that may be following this topic.

Yes, you are entitled to your opinions.  Where you may have screwed up is in your assumptions.

I am going to assume you wrote all of this based on your (possibly incorrect) assumption that all of those that think that sensitivity training and affirmative action is a akin to race inequality, AKA promotion of everything not white American descended from white European ancestry.

The problem is that we are sick of the often over blown promotion, as if everyone has to be happy that, and participate in, for example, February being Black History Month.  Is there valuable Black American History that should be celebrated?  Damn straight there is.  Do I need to participate in some kind of company or school planned and operate celebration of Black History Month?  No, I do not have to, I should not be required to, and if I feel like it, I should be able to voice my opinions about it, and as long as I am mature and rational while expressing my beliefs, there should be no threat or fear of any harassment, sanction, or retribution from my employer.  Now, my employer may have something to advise me about expressing my beliefs in the future, because, after all, most employment in this country is on private property, and I understand that my right to free speech may end when I step onto my employers property.  Warn me once, but that should be enough for both of us, and it should end as it started, harmlessly.

Now, to judge anyone based on their posting on this topic here and branding them an "angry racist WASP" or whatever only based on what you have read is nearly a sin.  This would be similar to assuming you are a "brainwashed lemming of the liberal elitists that wouldn’t trust me and my conscience any further than they could throw me, and they haven't grabbed enough of my mind or money to keep them satisfied, and probably never will, etc., etc." that so many here will freely express their hatred for.  For that, you would end up high on everyone's $hit list.  To assume that this one topic persuades all of our beliefs, actions, policies, ethics, on and on, you would just earn a spot on a few lists.  To continue to knee jerk respond your way through the rest of your life should put you high on your own list.  Get to know us before you condemn us, OK?  I have made a commitment to not say anything bad about anyone here until they know me, which may never happen.

Equality does not mean that a person gets any preference based on race, religion, color, creed, nationality, or economics.  Equality means the best person gets what they deserve without the need for false promotion or sensitivity.  Personally, my wife and I are sick of being passed up for what we deserve based on some perceived, false, or unnatural level of sensitivity, bias, inequality, or pressure.  Work is work, and the black guy just out of college with no family yet but is already saving for his retirement, should have to work just as hard for his pay and promotion as the Native American with a wife, five children and his parents to support, as the white guy with a kid, a wife, and is a foster family with 2 children that belong to the state to take care of.

In my office, you are recognized and paid for production.  No account at all is given to race, gender, family status, etc., absolutely nothing else matters other than dollars brought into the company, and you are promoted for the exact same reason.  Should we be more “sensitive” to those that don’t produce money as well?  Hell no.  We have done nothing different than what they could be doing, and could very well be doing much better in the future than the top producers in our company today, and they would be recognized and paid the same way top producers are now.

The best part is you have no idea what race or color I am, but that makes my words no more right or wrong than yours.
