A 29 Lew Horton has got my attention. I don't really have a need for it, but it sure is a nice looking gun.

I carry a S&W 627 pretty regularly

Be of good cheer, you men of valor
I carried a S&W 329PD from April 2011 until around Feb. 2018 when I started carrying my S&W Scandium framed SW1911SC .45 ACP.

Very nice! I have a 5" 629.

I always knew you had to be willing to die to even do this job. But, I don't want to push my chips forward and go out and meet something I don't understand. A man would have to put his soul at hazard. He'd have to say, "O.K.I'll be part of this world

I have multiple .44's... both S&W and Ruger. .44 is my grail caliber. I carry a 629 when hunting and at camp usually. Also when hiking or riding. In reality if I'm in the woods, some .44 is with me.
My only N frame is a model 28 4”. It has had a pampered life before me as a sock drawer gun and mostly continued as such. I wear the L frame around.
![]() I carry a 357 N frame in the woods. If that 29 you’re looking at is available and not at a “rape me in the ass” price, I would have bought it and that picture you posted would of been in the revolver picture thread! |
A friend had a limited run 2 1/2 or 3" M29 with an unfluted cylinder and round butt. It was the nicest shooting N frame I ever touched. It loved 210 gr Silvertips. I could easily hit a 12ga empty at the end of our 50 ft range. My eyes worked back then.
Prior to the semiauto era I carried a S&W M25-5 4" nickel in .45 Colt. Great gun, shot very well. |

I carry revolvers frequently. Can't say I've ever carried an N frame and I own a several. Hmmm.
I occasionally carry a 629-6 3” carry comp. We have bears and heavy jackets..

I just got that exact gun from a former co-worker hard up for cash. Got it stupid cheap, and I gave him more than he asked for. Haven't carried it yet, but plan to since he gave me an S&W holster with it. They're heavy, but sweet shooters with the right loads. I'd say go for it. Even if you end up not carrying the thing, it makes a hell of a nightstand gun.
I have a M58, and on occasion I have carried it, loaded with Silvertips.
329PD everyday for several years. It's no problem whatsoever in my surroundings.

629 4” in a Galco holster when hiking or kayaking.

I've been known to take my Model 27 4" out for a walk to run some quick errands from time to time in a crossdraw OWB holster. But it's not any sort of serious carry gun.
I bought an 8 inch barrel model 29-2. I have carried it to barbecues, lol.
I'm hoping to get a 4 inch next, which will potentially be a carry gun for situations where im more concerned with four legged predators than two legged ones. |
I'll carry a 627 5" or 629 Mountain Revolver (4") in the woods. I used to have a 629 5" full lug, but that's a lot for a hiking gun. I don't think I've ever carried them around town. And for the same reason I wouldn't carry a 29 Lew Horton Special...if I had to use it in a two-legged defensive encounter, it's as good as gone for life. I'd much rather lose a plastic fantastic or new production J frame than one of my older, hard to replace Smiths.
Occasionally I’ll carry my Model 24-3 or my Model 28-2. Both guns are 4”.
Those guns are actually pretty comfortable to carry in a El Paso Saddlery Steeet Combat pancake holster. The holster rides high on the belt and keeps the grip close to the body. |
I'm doing a trail run, I'll pack my 242 into a HPG kit bag. Makes a great lightweight option for anything I'm liable to come across.

I was helping a FFL friend clean and inspect a slew of estate guns prior to shipment. One of the was a Colt New Service in .45 Colt. That was an impressively large pistol but not all that heavy. All the old Colts in the collection even with the bluing worn off had perfectlly tight cylinder locking. Pretty impressive as they were circa 100 years old.

I think I got it from What Price Glory a few years back. I took a look today and didn’t see it (I think it was originally for a 1909 New Service). They still have the same Mills belt with pouches for a .38 Colt, not sure if moon clips will fit or not. |

Obviously for the 09 but I could work with that. |

My aiwb was ordered about a month ago. |

Question for tinythief and 03RN, what model of holster from JM are those? I like the wing on tinythief’s holster but prefer the single attachment point of 03RN’s holster. I’m looking to get a aiwb for my 627 PC.
Also 03RN, think that safariland speedloader holder would hold a 8 round 357 moon clip in similar fashion? |

The gun is big enough. I would think so since the 8rd moonclips need to fit in a N frame cylinder. |
