Options. Glock 43X in a Tenicor CERTUM3 or VELO4, A Glock 19 in a Tenicor CERTUM3, or a Glock 29 in a Tulster Profile. All appendix carry, and equally comfortable. Higher Capacity? Thinner? Or biggest caliber you can carry? Attached File

Me personally, for daily carry, the 43X Right Rear hip. I don't do appendix carry. Thin means comfort and comfort means I carry every day.

Tough choice. I always go back and forth between larger caliber or smaller caliber with higher capacity. Both being equally easy to conceal. Love my Shield 45 and Shield Plus 9mm. Really isn't a wrong answer either way.
I'd say your average person is probably better off with a higher capacity 9mm though because they probably don't practice enough. |

View Quote Couldn't agree more. While i understand that I could get the S15 mags for the 43X and have both higher capacity AND slim frame, I just don't trust my life to the shield arms mags just yet. Glock mags have never let me down. I'm still old school and carry the biggest caliber I can..... |

I don't consider double stack Glocks as comfortable as single stacks. Especially with a spare mag also aiwb.

I would carry any of those depending on my mood, the occasion, my clothes.

I'm a 10mm guy but I rarely carry it. I no longer own a G29 as I was more comfortable shooting 9mm guns that were the same size and have more ammo.
My vote would be the G19. |
|
I was huge on the slimline Glocks since they came out but I’ve ultimately given up on them as long term reliability just hasn’t been there.
G19. |

Just trying to read the original message here. The 43x and the G19 are equally comfortable. Equally concealable? Then G19 due to being able to carry a 17 rd or more spare mag. In MY case, my 48 is more comfortable than a G19 size pistol, so I vetted it and some shield mags. Now I don’t have to compromise.

I carry my G43X MOS w/SA mags at night because it prints more than my P365X.
My body type forces me to carry at my 2 o'clock so comfort isn't an option for me. |

I started carrying a gun in 1996, a full size 1911, I dressed around the gun. In 2005 I changed to a Glock 19, for more capacity, to me it was not much easier to hid then the 1911. In 2017, I added a Dot to the G19. About a month ago I picked up a P365XL with a Dot, after 2 range trips and about 500 rounds it's my new carry gun. It's much easier to hide and has 13 rounds in the gun, and 15 in a spare magazine. During my range time, I found the P365XL very easy to shoot, recoil was very controlled.

Any of those should work admirably. I would probably opt for the 43X with OEM 10 rounders.

365 XL with 407K and Magguts +2 in a JMCK
Small frame, high capacity, adequate caliber |

Glock 19. The answer is always Glock 19. Doesn't matter what the question is, the answer is always Glock 19.

Glock 29 in a Tulster Profile, I have this same set up and it does seem to carry very well appendix style which was a little bit of a surprise to me. All three are good choices though, of the 3 I shoot the 29 the best which was another surprise.

As a general rule, I would choose the most comfortable to carry that you are accurate enough with (i.e. getting decent groups at the range, but it doesn't have to be the one you're most proficient with). Those all look pretty equally concealable to me. I would go with the one you are the most accurate with.
I would be wary to appendix carry something without an external safety, but it's your personal comfort level that matters. After hearing about "Glock-leg," I worry about "Glock-d*ck." |

G43X or G48 are my go-to off duty guns right now.
As it gets into winter I’ll use my G19 more. G48 is very capable setup. Here’s some 25 yard work on Defoor hat qual. Attached File |

I started out carrying a PPQ but eventually transitioned to a PPS (with a 7 round mag for a full grip) I always missed the extra capacity but it made life much more comfortable. I’m now transitioning to a P365xl because the size difference with a PPS is negligible and capacity is significantly greater and I get a 15 round reload instead of 8. Capacity: important Size: essential for me |

I carried a 43x with shield arms mag in a velo for a long time. Recently switched to my G45 in a velo. That's an awesome holster. I'd go G19 between your choices. And I love 10mm. Used to carry a G29. Just like the G45 better.

|
If it’s the same carry method, I go with the biggest.
However, with the P365 being pocket size and 10+1 capacity, that’s my go-to. |

Quoted: I was huge on the slimline Glocks since they came out but I’ve ultimately given up on them as long term reliability just hasn’t been there. G19. View Quote Yup. The most important consideration isn't on the poll (which is why I didn't vote). The single most important consideration is reliability. If your life is on the line, your handgun absolutely MUST go bang and then repeat. The second most important consideration would be, "Can I shoot it well?". Then third would be capacity. Fourth would be caliber. Comfort matters, but fortunately for me, that has never been an elusive unicorn. Unlike some other less fortunate peeps, I was able to quickly arrive at a gun, holster, belt and clothing combination that worked very well for me without much struggling or discomfort. I guess my size, weight and body type just work out with what I carry. |
|
Whichever I shoot the best.
I'd also want what I can't have and get biggest caliber+ highest capacity |

I prefer the Glock 48 it's a compromise size, caliber and capacity.

Since you're in IL, are there mag restrictions? I dont remember if that was something there or not.
If no, 19 for the cap. if yes, 29 for the size of the hole. |

Reliability is first.
Then accuracy. Then how many effective rounds it carries. I have three carry sizes. Most carried is a P07. Meets all three of the above. I carry it winter and summer. IWB, right side, one spare mag IWB on the left side. For awhile I would carry an FNS-C. It meets the reliability and effective rounds criteria. Never was satisfied with the accuracy. But I carried it because it was so much smaller "feeling" carried the same way as the P07. These days the small carry gun is an M&P Shield. Even smaller than the FNS-C. Meets one and two of my criteria and only has a couple rounds less than the FNS-C. Also carried IWB on the right side. It's an amazing little pistol. One additional benefit is it likes the same ammo that does so will in my 9MM CZs, so I don't have to find different ammo for it. Same box feeds either. I know a lot of people don't mind those 4" groups at 7 or 10 yds. but they just bug the crap out of me when I know there are guns that do so much better. |
|
Quoted: The G29 hands down. I do switch up from time to time and train with all 3 regularly. View Quote With these three pistol switching is not a huge concern I would worry about as they all function the same just a different cartridge. For me I have it down to three carry pistols a G17/G19/G43 with 25% of the time the G17, 70% the G19, and the G43 with I just need something really small for say walking to mailbox, riding my bike around, or deep concealment. The G17/19 I carry OWB with a shirt tossed over. I may add a G43x eventually but I want a railed variant and MOS plus I am in no rush to grab one so maybe I will find one used one of these days. |
|
I chose smaller frame, capacity isn't the narrative that's it's being made out to be considering I'm a civilian carrying for SD and not a cop, larper, serviceman, or an operator.
To me the G43X with it's standard ten rounds is my jam as I get the right grip length, ease of concealment that a double stack cannot do for me, lighter in weight, and shoots way better than a G19 or a G29. |
|
19, 3 o'clock, with a button-up shirt over it. I'm going to start carrying my PF940v2 3 o'clock IWB with the button-up shirts or some other outerwear come June 13th.

43x s15 go shoot 500-1k through them if you’re not comfortable with reliability. I’ve had no issues
|
|
Quoted: Me personally, for daily carry, the 43X View Quote and using vetted Shield magazines means I have the same amount of ammo on tap as the G19. Bonus, I shoot the 43X better than the G19. My Gen 5 19 hasn't been out of the safe since the G43X with Shield mags proved itself to be just as reliable. |
