If you were going to have one HK pistol to serve both CCW and nightstand, camping, HD duties which would it be and why?

The HK45CT was my choice for those roles. The threaded barrel isn't all that important unless you have a suppressor, but it comes standard with tritium sights and 10rd mags, so it was worth it to me (especially at current price of around $800).

I like the P30 as the frame options to me, are the best in any handgun available now. AIM has the P30s in 9mm with the grey frame for only $549.00. I am seriously tempted.

Love my P30. I have the light LEM.
My son doesn't shoot as much as I do so I bought him a P30 in DA/SA. Once he gets more time on it, maybe a couple of years, if he wants the LEM then we can convert it if they have a kit, or sell that one and either give him mine, and I'll get a P30L, or buy him one. |

1. If you're a striker fired guy then go with a VP9.
2. If you're a hammer fired guy then go with a P30. |

Your camping requirement really throws a wrench into this for me. I'm working on getting a USP .45 for this purpose as I slowly break away from revolvers as outdoor pistols. That said I can't manage to hide a G17 no matter how I carry it, so that obviously wouldn't work for me.
In lieu of that I guess I'd stick with what I've already got and say USP Compact 9mm seeing as it's done all those things for me in the past and I never really felt under prepared with it. |

Get a p30sk for the every duty gun. Factory extended 15 round mags mag it handle like a full size.

I made the decision today and bought my one and only HK. I wanted a pistol for the range and night stand. Picked up P30L out the door for $550. No sales tax in OR.

USP Compact .40.
Enough power, capacity, small enough to conceal, large enough to shoot with a full(ish) grip, built like a tank. There are others that serve certain requirements better but none that beat it in all categories. |

jdad, nice score on the P30L. Of course you know you have to post pics or it didn't happen. Threads like this make it hard for me not to buy something.

P2000 is my choice. It's G19 sized and I shoot it very well. It's my carry gun.

LOL @ I'm only going to buy ONE HK.
You will buy more. Start with a VP9 or P30. |

Only one I just don't like being constrained like this
USP .45 if you could conceal it lol My EDC can change but I carry a p30sk with the factory 13rd mag most days. I like it better than my vp9sk but I am happy to carry either. I love my usp9 but the 30sk carries the best of them all. With the camping aspect what is your worry 2 or 4 leg predators? |

If I could only own one, HK USP45 V1. If I am allowed 2, my second HK would be a P30L V3.

|
USPc .45 is my daily carry and is what I would keep if I could only have one. Would rather have my MK23 if concealment wasn't a factor. P7M8 if concealed carry was the only mission.
Sounds like I need a minimum of 3 HKs. |
|
OP, for only one I would opt for the USP .45 Compact. Insanely accurate gun.
Perhaps a close second would be a USP 9mm Tactical/SD with a mag well. Mag well allows 18rd mags to be flush fit. Threaded bbl allows suppressor use at home. P7M8 is a close third option. |
|
My one would be a USP Compact v3 9mm with some night sights. For nightstand duty I put a TLR-3 on it.

|
Usp9 compact loaded with 13 rounds of +p+
You can swap the 13 rounders for fullsize mags on the nightstand. Night sights. +p+ 9mm in a Usp is no joke. |

I would pick the USP9c or HK45C
I wish I could find a USP45CT somewhere. |
|
If I only had 1 HK, I would choose the P30L DA/SA and the VP9 as a close 2nd.
My EDC is the VP9 because I am a slightly better shot with the VP9, but my nightstand gun is the P30L which I keep in a Stealth Tactical handgun safe with simplex lock next to my bed. I prefer the P30L DA/SA as a night stand gun because it is not stored in a holster and the trigger is heavier in DA and I figure it has less of a chance for AD in the dark when the adrenaline might be a bit more active. I prefer the trigger on the VP9, but for a nightstand gun the P30L gives me better peace of mind. I also have to consider that my wife has access to the nightstand gun, and since she doesn't get out to the range as often as I would like her to so the P30L DA/SA trigger is preferred for this purpose. |
|
P30L V1 Light LEM 9MM hands down. I own/owned all HK pistol offerings (Except VP9 which I wouldn't own.) P30L V1 is my favorite.

Seems like more than one good choice.
For the two legged predators any of the suggestions will work fine. |
