She doesn't want to go shooting today, but has already taken the online test for her CHL.  Hoping she didn't get scammed on that.

I'll get a variety of stuff to try out in it, all ball, unless somewhere there's a gel test of some brand of hollowpoint hitting 12".

Eley does have a supersonic 40 grn ball round:

Anyone know where I could find a box?

ETA:  Wrote Eley, we'll see what they recommend.  Curious about their pistol ammo velocity; not clear whether they tested it out of a pistol or a rifle.

Try Sportsman's Guide.  I know they carry Eley.

@backbencher

Kind of expensive but, here are a few places:
budsgunshop.com
wholesalehunter.com
foundryoutdoors.com

I've only ordered from Bud's in the past, so I don't know about the other two

Looks like it might do.  42 grn bullet @ 1250 fps out of a rifle.

https://www.sportsmansguide.com/product/index/eley-force-22lr-lrn-42-grain-50-rounds?a=1892529

Eley characterizes it as sub-sonic on their website, which it's clearly not.

I have to say that this is a great option.  With ammo like critical defence and Gold dot it would be low recoil easy to use platform.
It's far from perfect but almost anyone can use a setup like that
I would never give someone a semi auto if there's any doubt about manipulating the slide.

The trouble w/ rimfire revolvers is the hammer spring has to be somewhat robust to set off the primers.  I have a DA .22 WMR revolver, and you could run a crossbow faster than she can shoot the revolver.

I've got two Ruger Mk 2s, but she can't rack the bolt when the hammer is down, so I shelled out the cash for the SR-22.

Update:  finally got her to the range w/ it.  Not broken in yet, so she can't pull it DA as she did the rental gun.  She can, however, load the mags, run the gun, and clear jams.  Ran 10 rounds of everything I had on hand, and the only thing it didn't like was Remington Thunderbolt.  Shot mostly CCI 40 grn LRN MiniMags, and we did have a couple of failures to fire - light primer strikes.

Took her to the closest indoor range to her, and will get her some gift cards down the way along w/ some more mags the kids can load up for her.  Also plan to order in some 42 grn LRN Eley supersonic, which might be more reliable than the CCI.

.50 A.E. best if held sideways...

Oh, wait... not that kind of question...

That case, I got nothing...

I would guess size plays on both 'sides' here.

As the shooter or target.

I actually liked both of my MILs.

They both expressed disappointment in their respective daughters over the divorce each time.
