I know I'm opening a can of worms here, but I'll ask anyway since I want a Glock specific answer. What red dot recommendation can be made? I'm anticipating the g26 MOS arrival, so it will go on that.
My short list is the Trijican RMR or Leupold Delta Point from my research. I also see a lot of positives from the Sheild optics. My only experience with a pistol mounted red dot is a range-only g19 with a Swamp Fox something or other green dot. I thought I wanted to get a Holosun SCS MOS for it, based soley on appearance, but I have read many unfavorable reviews on it. What say you? |
|
What's the gun's purpose? CCW, HD, Range, Competition? How much coin? Answer that and then narrow the selection down.

Snag a used RMR off the EE if money is an issue. Ditch the MOS plate and get one from FCD or C&H.

I own one Trijicon and two Holosuns. I’m planning on buying the G26 MOS as well.
I have the Trijicon RMR on my G19.5 and I’m going to use the same optic on the G26. I don’t know why but I have trouble with the Holosuns on my G43X and P365XL, but with the G19.5 RMR, I’m dead on. |

Holosun SCS.
Anything else just get a regular slide and get it cut for whatever optic you want. Just my opinion. |
|
For what purpose?
SD? Get an RMR or an EPS if you trust it. They are pretty new. Range toy? DPP, SRO, 507Comp, or SCS. I personally hate the SCS because it's auto brightness only and the override is non-adjustable and temporary. It has the same downfalls as the fiber optic RMRs with light differential between target and shooter. |
|
+1 on the SCS. I trialed mine on a .22 slide for a while before getting my carry 19x cut for MOS specifically to wear one.

Trijicon is the gold standard. That being said, I am cheap and went with Swampfox Optics sights and have not had any issues with them. I use them on my EDC pistols without concern.
MOS plates is another touchy subject that can start arguments. I have been running the OEM MOS plates for years without any issues at all. |

I use an RMR, but I’m Trijicon’s whore..
I understand a lot of people like the offerings from Holosun, but I can’t get my head around Chineseum optics. ![]() |

Trijicon if you want the best.
Whatever else if you want to half ass it with some Chinese bullshit. |

For the RMR, I’m leaning toward a 3moa but undecided on auto or adjustable…
Expert Voice pricing shows $406 for the RM01-C-700600 and $438 for the RM06-C-700672 adjustable. |

All of mine are the RM06 Type 2 3.25 adjustable.
I never use the brightness adjustment though, they stay on auto mode 100% of the time. |

Quoted: From your short list...RMR. As stated, it's the standard that everything is measured to. Now decide on on dot size, auto or adjustable. Then open or closed emitters. With the release of the new closed emitters, you be able to snag a used RMR in the EE at a good price = $400. Stay away from fiber optic versions. https://i.imgur.com/mqwNQcD.jpg Good alternatives are Holosun's 508Ts with the same footprint. FCD's plate for sure. https://i.imgur.com/t3WyH6W.jpg https://i.imgur.com/ABqnxmZ.jpg View Quote I've got one on my VP9 and another 508T waiting on a Glock 45 to get back from Battlewerx. |

Quoted: Agree on the Holosun 508T. I like them a lot more than the RMR, IMO the current RMR is an inferior product. I plan to buy the next gen RMR-HD after they have been out for a few months. How many things in our lives are made in China? Lots if you really look. They passed Aaron Cowan's testing, so it's vetted (at least for me). Holosun has a lot of features that Trijicon should have come up with (i.e. solar, MRS, colors, side loading battery). They finally jumped on the bandwagon this year with enclosed and a top loading battery like the SROish that's duty rated. The more options/players, means a cheaper cost for the rest of us. |

My favorite part of Cowan testing Holosuns is when the lens goes flying out and he just keeps shooting like it didn’t happen. |

I'm certainly no expert but I'm extremely pleased with my Holosun 507C with the green reticle.
I have them on G19-5 and a G45. They are really tough. I dropped the G45 on concrete . It hit hard but still works perfectly. I have an astigmatism and red dots tend to look like a rose to my eye. |

I have holosuns and have been buying trijicons lately. If anything, having the rmr gives me peace of mind. I hate having doubt if something will work or not.

Move your eyes to the irons and keep at it. Eta I say that but at the same time I would have to stop and be like oh yeah those basic sights are still there. Pistol optics have me spoiled ![]() |

I hate my self for saying this, as I’m a Triji whore, and I try to buy as little chinese shit as possible, but some of the Holosun pistol sights are really good, and I like them better than my Trijis.
The biggest problem, besides Chinese, is that chinadots come with a pile of features, and its up to the end user to decide which ones work or don’t. For example, one of my 508Ts battery died recently, and I found that the solar backup does not work. |

RMR or Holosun are probably ok for daily civilian carry use. I have a decent number of both.
I carry mostly with RMR RM-06 or RM-09. I started with an RM-07 larger dot on my carry gun and it is still perfectly serviceable with no practical degradation to accuracy at least inside 25-30y. But I like smaller dots the more I have trained with dots. If I was going to war or open carrying as an LEO I would heavily lean toward Trijicon over Holosun. I think the titanium Holosun bodies are probably as tough as RMRs, but I don't feel the glass is quite as durable. Seems to scratch easier. And as of a few years ago anyway, at a FoF class with Aaron Cowan he said he had yet to see an RMR get broken by a UTM round at that time. But a Holosun glass in the class was cracked by a UTM hit. I guess with live fire that's a non issue because a live round would be hitting your eye either way, but I think it does show a difference in glass durability. Battery powered and adjustable is the way for me too. I take everything out of auto-adjust modes. Plus I would never carry a dual-illum models after a bad experience getting the dot to show up under white-light in a low light FoF setting. I had to fall back to iron sights due to the environment leaving the dot too dim. That was enough for me to build out my own 17T dot gun. |

The USA made kickass RDS with the bible verses written on them.

Adjustable RMR. I can attest to the ruggedness because I dropped an AR from a height of at least three feet with an RMR piggybacked on an ACOG and the RMR bore the full brunt of the impact. This was on a hard laminate floor too. RMR is fine.
