Went to buy a new 365X today and there was an M18 in the military/LE case. It ended up following me home as well. I’ve got a Trijicon RMR setting on the bench and seems like a good home for it but it looks like there is a sea of options. What’s the best adaptor option out there?

So does this mean my non-issued M18 is still good to go or is it generically referring to all M17/18s?

Yeah, that's what I read. I also have the commercial M18 pattern, which is the bottom slide in the 3rd picture.

Let's get some confirmation...

military issued M17/M18(and commemoratives) use a single screw that comes up from the firing pin channel to secure the rear sight assembly. commercial P320 - M17 and P320-M18 guns use 2 screws.

I think there are at least two variants of the M18.

Commercial and military issued versions of the cut, yes.

Their plate works for the commercial version.

I always wondered why SIG didn't go with the RMR cut in the first place.

Because they were heavy handed putting all their eggs into the basket of the Romeo 1. When they eventually got all the requests for the RMR holes instead I guess they caved in.

I’ve heard nothing but good things here about the Bobro Engineering RMR mount with integrated rear sight and plan to order one of them once my budget allows for another RMR.

No, not really.

They went with the Deltapoint Pro footprint because Leupold already had a large Gov. Contract. The Romeo1 was also changed to the R1P Footprint to match the DPP for consistency with their slides and mounting to allow the shooter more options.
Trijicon and DPP are the two main footprints. Now you can mount either one to Sig from the factory.

And yes Go with BOBRO great setup for this slide.

The MIL issued M17/M18 slides and commercial M17/M18 slides optics cuts are different.  Whereas the commercial version uses the P320 two screw configuration (removed from the bottom of the slide), MIL issued uses a single, weak and proprietary Torx screw that you can only get from SIG, and they'd give you a hard time for asking to buy a spare because it's a "MIL only" item.
