At my last range session, that little set screw fell out. What purpose does it serve and was there something else that may have fallen out.

Keeps the sight in place in the dovetail cut.

If it's tight enough it won't go anywhere, but I can't think of a reason not to replace it

Yeah, replace that.   Mine came out once, then the rear sight went missing.  Pure luck I found that sight, I was out hiking.
