Purchased a VP9 a while back and wanted to like it but think the grip was too small which caused other issues.

Not wanting to invest too much in case it doesn't work I am looking for a used one in excellent condition.

The USP seems to have a larger grip similar to a G21 and think it may actually work out.
Since it may be used with a suppressor, the Tactical model would be preferred.

Have you seen the USP Tactical in 9mm or preferably .45 on sale for a decent price?
Oh, and with a de-cocker on the left side.

Keep watching the EE here and HKpro, I’ve seen used come up as little as $650.

Also check HKspecialist, either the website or the sub forum on HKpro, he gets weird super specials all the time.

Also the “heads up” sub forum on HKpro, people post deals they find all over the internet

I'm kinda the same way OP, but I went the opposite direction.  I have 5 different usp's and finally picked up a vp9.  The grip is definitely smaller, but if you add the large panels, it will help some.  Maybe get some of those talon grip tape stuff?

Assuming you're wanting new, figure out which model you want (there's 4 variations of both 9 and 45 limited capacity and not and night sights or not) and put the UPC into gun deals. It'll pull up who has them and you'll have to do the email quote for each. There's not a lot of mark up in HK's so don't expect $200 off MAP or anything.

Right now you probably won't find any USP 9 Tacticals at online dealers, they've been sold out pretty much everywhere for a while. For a 9 your best bet is used either on GB, HKpro, or arms list. There's a USP 9 Tactical new at a dealer near me in FL that I could give you the info of. It's the 15rd version with non night sights and I believe it's marked $1149.

45's are in stock though and are also much more plentiful on the used market. You can regularly pick up a 45 variant in excellent shape with some extras and stuff off GB for $900-$1000.

I have had a USP 45T for a while(full on sweetness) and FINALLY found a 9mm USPT here on ARF of all places just a couple weeks ago!  Just picked it up first part of this week.  Just ordered the thread protector and 5-mag base extensions directly from Hk this morning, too.

https://www.ar15.com/forums/equipment-exchange/-/88-1931400/?

I LOVE IT!  Good luck and keep your eyes peeled on here and out there, deals do exist, just got to be fast!

The best deals seems to be with a used one with minimal round count.

I wouldn't mind a deal like Helsing76 got. A nice 9mm Tact for about $700.

If I could only get 1 it would probably be the .45

Thank you!  Member that sold it to me was amazing to work with, too!  I have had an extra brand new in bag Eagle Industries gray SOCOM case sitting in my closet I totally forgot about.  So that worked out for the 9mm.  Here's my USP45T in its EI case that I got with painted in details for $1,026.00 OTD with taxes and a bunch of mags from a local Cabelas gun library.  Wife's gift to me for a Valentine's day a few years ago.  Maybe watch their online gun library resources nationwide, too.

Deals pop up but you have to be quick, GB is probably still the best place to find them followed by arms list. I picked up this one off GB last month for $775 shipped. It came with 6 mags, a safari land drop leg holster, a raven concealment holster, and Trijicon HD's as well as the factory suppressor height night sights. The gun is a BG date code so it's pretty new but it was definitely a duty gun of an officer that actually shot but that doesn't bother me even if it does have 10K rounds on it.

This is a fair deal considering it looks practically new (almost no wear on the ramp or anything), has the Jet funnel, 4 mags, and factory night sights.

My local shop has two used ones marked at $899 each. One of them has been there at that price for over a year, I believe.  Seems like a great deal to me, considering I ordered mine brand new, and paid $1299. (Many years ago)

There’s one on GB with the soft case and 5 mags for around $1000. I want one and will jump when I can find a deal for less than $900.

Heck I was out fishing trout this morning and got a watched reminder for a working Hk marked UTL MkII light on eBay and threw a bid in and won it.  Got her for $32.85 tax & shipping included.

I too went the patient route and apparently it is paying off this month finally, lol.  Wasn't really looking for this light, I think I found it by spelling something wrong or looking in an obscure category.  But nice and cheap nostalgia, I guess.

My best luck wishes are with ya, OP!  At least you have me out of the running for hunting em down, lol!

Thanks!

I had no idea what these were, just knew they were old and it was marked Hk, so I threw in a $59.99 bid expecting to lose it.  It was actually categorized in "Toys/Games/Collectibles" and that probably didn't help in selling it at a higher price.  It isn't in pristine condition or has the box/foam/manual, but I am sure if I like it and keep it I will dig them up, too.  Here's some pics of it's condition.  Once I get it, I will take & share some USPT pics where I am supposed to.  Holy cow, I see what you mean now as I just saw a pristine example posted for sale here with orig box n doc for A LOT!

Sellers supplied pics:

This past week i spent my firearm allowance on 2 suppressors. Unless some insane deal comes along, the hk project is on hold.

Looks like you got a MK23 mag in that gun. They'll work fine in the USP though.

I was looking for a deal on a USP 45 Tactical a few years ago and ran across at USP 40 Tactical for like $675 shipped.

It sounds fantastic suppressed, and my 45 cans really cut the recoil impulse.  Accurate.  Amazing trigger.  Black front sight is a little hard for my old eyes.  Cheap and always available 40 S&W ammo is a plus, and all 180 gr loads I have seen are subsonic.  Shooting a USP in 40 is not at all like a Glock in terms of recoil, and I like Glocks.

Also picked up a load of new 10 round range mags off of Ebay for like $18 a piece.

USP Tactical anything is a win.  They are overbuilt German masterpieces.

I was just going to post the same thing.  My old AA date code USP came with Mk23 mags and they have been flawless.  I think they just have a tad longer feed lip on them if I remember correctly. That and the mismatch in the floor plate.

I was wondering what was up with that mag.  Came with the pkg.  Also came with 2 neutered 10 rnd mags, one parkerized nicely.  Also 3-12 rnd "correct" mags with finger extensions.

I have had my eye in Mk23's lately but just dont know enough about them to pull trigger yet, so I guess I get an extra mag right out of the gate.

You ever find one yet, OP?

Heck, I woke up the other day and saw here another 700 dollar one but in 45 popped up here in classifieds from yet another awesome forum guy here and it arrived at my FFL last week.  I also found 50 dollar M6 light on eBay that arrived last night(really like how it ends at muzzle fairly evenly), some Streamlight or Insight pattern lenses for 17 dollars, a 10 dollar Streamlight belt pouch made for the M6 lights(really neat, actually and just found out about them) and a GG&G adapter I had laying around in my safe.  This one is coming along nicely.  It is quickly becoming quite the little "Hall-Monitor".  I have some circle patterns coming in a few days as well.  Need to get a couple more M6 or M6X lights now and of course, "hush-tubes".  I know not top of the game lighting gear but I like the older stuff look still.  EI case looks more grey in person, pic color looks funny on my monitor, may just be me.  Deals are still out there, everywhere, pandemic or not.

Actually won a NIB on GB for about $800.

I originally had the EE pistol section sending me e-mail when ever a new thread was created, but the e-mail system has had issue the past month.

That is AWESOME!!  I had a good feeling you'd get hooked up sooner or later.

You doing anything to it?  I have a set of night sights but like how robust the original Hk ones are compared, plus I am not a need night sights guy.  The front sight is about all  I would lit up want anyways.

Again, glad to hear!

Ordered night sights for it.
Not only am I impressed with how well it shoots but so anyone who tries it is equally impressed.
Its a great match for the Osprey without the loss of accuracy.

Right on, I think mine are the Meprolights, can't remember.  I got them off here some time ago and actually packed them in with one of my couple USP 45's thinking I may convert one with 3-dot white sights to these Mepro adjustables.  I got a couple really nice site pushing tools in case I got locked down, I could tear my own stuff up correctly at least!

Shooting:

Yes, +1, for a big ol' plastic gun, they sure shoot dreamy!

Suppressor:

That is what I am reading up on is that for this particular gun, the "Osprey" (and one other I cannot recall right now) is "The-way" to go.  Heck, I have like 6 or 7 hosts, probably time to throw a party.  Kind of want this buzz to settle down before getting back into suppression market but either way I have some stuff to get done first non-gun related anyways ahead of that spending.

A USP .45 Tactical was my very first handgun lo these many years gone.  Tutored in college for a year for the scratch to get my hands on it.  Still have it.

Just today picked up a second one.  Local FTF deal, $1200 for: pistol with Meprolights and thread protector; Insight M2 UTL; 10 factory 12-round mags; and a baggie of ammo since the seller was getting out of that caliber and this was his last .45 ACP.  The sights are a bit dim, which caused me to look at the sights on my original gun, and they are also dim (of course, more than a decade old).  I should probably change both sets.
