LGS has a few local police trade in USP Full Sized .45ACP for $480 including one or two 12round mags, with extra magazines for $20.

I'm pretty sure they are all V1 editions.

Fair deal?

Should I do it? I don't shoot .45acp alot.

Nah.  I think recently they were $399 shipped IIRC online for those guns.  Your call though.  Probably not worth it if you don't have a stockpile of 45 ammo

Not sure where in Ohio you’re located, but local to me there was an individual with around 13 of them that was selling for $430 for the gun and one mag. I picked one up because it wasn’t a bad price and I could always use as trade later.

Must be nice to have them $399 that would never happen here.  I’ve not seen them online at that price either (ever)
Not saying it didn’t happen but I’d like to know who it was .
.
So I’m going to respectfully disagree with the above posters due to local market conditions ( what I see )  the trade in HK USP45’s will not last forever.  Local shop here had one for $550 and it sold in about a hour.

OP if you’ve never seen one cheaper where you live you probably never will.    I accually went to buy the one for $550. It was pretty much mint with 3 mags
I don’t mind paying more on a used gun if I can see before I buy unlike online

Good gun.  Average price.  Expensive mags.  Large size.

If you like it and it's in good condition.....you could do a lot worse for $480.

Personally I like the USP, but it's not without it's faults (size and expense).

Try the trigger before you buy, I've found some USPs to have nice triggers, and some to have really gritty ones.

Saw the ones that were $399
I paid $500 for mine with 3 mags last year but it was pretty much mint.   I will be all over a $399 beater.
Some new recoil springs and some 45super = awesome woods gun.  Hell for $399 Ill strap one on my tractor

Factor in shipping and then your local FFL transfer fee, and you're looking at ~$475-500

If my FFL had one in stock at $480 that I could look at and verify it's condition before buying, I'd go with that vs ordering one online and getting it in sight unseen.

Sub $400 USP 40 V1 trade in guns..

Any reason not to buy one of these at the current prices?  I'm seeing $800 prices for new.

Buy.  I did.  It's a phenomenal gun that cleaned up well.  Sights are dim but usable.

Thanks for the post, I was trying to remember the name of that sight. I never bought from there, but the prices look good.

$480 at an LGS where you don't have to pay shipping and transfer fee is fair in my opinion. Not a smoking deal, but fair.  I got a police trade in USP 45 full size back in 2013.  I replaced the dim night sights with new ones and installed a LEM kit.  I really like the gun.  It is a pleasure to shoot.

I have since acquired a USP 9 full size (converted to SAO), a USP 45 compact (installed LEM kit), a HK45T (factory LEM), a P30 (factory LEM), and I just got a VP9.

The only legitimate criticism of the USP45 in my opinion is the grip size.  I have large hands, so I like it.  I think the bottom line is that if you want a true double stack 45, the grip will be large.  Compare the Glock 21.  The KH 45 is staggered, and they managed to make the grip smaller by reducing capacity to 10 rounds.  No free lunch.  If you are used to Glocks, the bore axis is relatively high.

What I really like about H&K pistols is that they run.  I don't think I have ever had a stoppage in any of mine.

Was gonna say, if there's any one USP to get for dirt cheap...the .40 is the sweet spot of the bunch IMO

The full size .45s are huge, but they are sweet, soft shooting guns.  But HUGE.

I've got one, I know...soft shooting for a polymer gun maybe, but a full size 1911 is still softer, no matter how it's sliced. I spent a day at the range putting 200 rounds through each, the 1911 (a bone stock S70 repro) had a bit less flip and was less fatiguing to shoot after 150 rounds through it, by far...

Not that the USP is bad, and if I were going into harm's way I'd opt for the USP over the 1911 in a heartbeat...but it's not the pillow soft luxury that a lot of people make it out to be

For 12+1 and stone cold reliability, though...it wins hands down.

The 45 USP btw isn't THAT much bigger - it'll fit into most 9/40 leather holsters with only a little extra shoving The grip is a little bigger, sure, but the top end isn't that much different...

I just bought one for $380, but after shipping, FFL fee and sales tax, it comes to $476 total.  If you can get $480 out the door locally, it sounds like a decent deal.

IMO, under $500, I don't think you'll find a better handgun. The USP series in general is amazing, I would not feel bad for spending what you're looking at for a .45 USP.
