Lately I've been on quite a Beretta kick, having been absent from them for the past several years. I've always been a big fan of Berettas, even during my time with Uncle Sam but I let myself be influenced and became a Glock and up until recently when the wool was pulled away from my eyes.
Having said that, over the past few months I had lucked into a few deals. Started with trading a Glock 23 Gen 3 with 9mm conversion barrel I had maybe $420 in for a Beretta M9. Then lucked into a Beretta Compact L, trading a CZ P07 I had maybe $395 into including a holster I got from my LGS. The last Beretta I picked up was my 92D from a LGS going out of business for $340 OTD.
I had sold my Compact L to a friend of mine who really wanted it, so I had a vacancy I felt needed to be filled. While scanning through Armslist the other day, happened upon a gentleman offering a Langdon Tactical Elite LTt for $900 or trade for a variety of guns plus cash. The gentleman had purchased it new some months back for $1164, having elected to have the TJIB performed. Also included were 5 magazines, a Safariland ALS holster, and a JM appendix holster.
I sent an email offering a variety of things I had readily available to trade, since I was cash poor. I received a response back, and turns out it was someone who had done business with in the past and still had his number. After texting back and forth, offering everything I could think of, we came to a deal that he'd do the trade for a Glock 17 Gen 5 and my Shield 2.0 in 9mm. Only problem was I don't own a Glock 17 Gen 5, or any Glock currently for that matter
On the hunt, I contacted everyone I could think of looking and scanned through Armslist. Then found a gentleman who had a Glock 19 Gen 5 that was wanting to trade for a Beretta 92 series. Hoping against hope I could find someone to trade with me later on or maybe hoping I could convince the Langdon owner to take it in lieu of the G17 I performed that trade.
G19 in hand, asked the Langdon owner if he would accept that but alias he had his heart set on the G17. The hunt began anew, scouring armslist for any and all G17 Gen 5 offerings. Finally found one an hour drive one way away who would trade, and even would drive to me if I could add something on top. I had a Heritage Rough Rider I had bought from a friend for $80 that I threw in to help the guy out, and also just to get rid of it. Plus he threw me some stuff I needed for a different project..
Glock 17 Gen 5 in hand, sent pictures of both guns and confirmed a meet with the Langdon owner. Meet up, looked over one another's firearms, signed a bill of sale, and both walked away happy (me more so than him)
Apparently he bought brand new some months back to do competition shooting with, but ultimately decided he was more of a Glock person after taking a class with the Langdon and firing 500 rounds through it. Took it to a LGS and was offered $600, glad he held onto it until I could get my greedy hands on it.
Took alot of communication with a variety of people, patience, and research but in the end I'm very thrilled with the trade outcome.
