I love model 10s. I have a 4 inch that my dad gave me in the early 70s. |

Nice. I stupidly sold my 3" 64 a few years ago to fund something I no longer have.

I have its twin. C series? Like the Trausch grips. Wish there was a source for those.

I don't know why 3 in didn't emerge as the standard barrel for defensive firearms for revolvers.
I was shooting my friends Taurus 692, and it's fantastic by the way, and I liked how the 3 inch barrel was a lot handier. I owned a 4in Model 66 for years but eventually sold it to my brother for next to nothing. And it was a pre lock....he sold it for $800. |

I re-barreled a M10 4" police trade in with a 3" barrel, but it tapers slightly to the muzzle... made the chambers a little longer

Very nice, and very jealous here. I've wanted a 3" 10/13 or 64/65 for a long time. Hopefully I can eventually get one without breaking the bank.

I don't own any revolvers (other than a high standard 9 shot 22) but I think 3" barrels are the best looking, by far.

Love the 3" K frames. One of my favorite guns. Have owned in past 13, 64 and 65 set up that way. Other 3" round guns I've had were .44 SPLs ie CA Bulldog and Taurus 431. Still have the Bulldog.

I had a model 10, was thinking about getting a bull barrel and have the barrel chopped to 3" and have the sight reattached.
Ended up selling it to fund a 686 with 6" barrel. Still want a 3" revolver. |

Love 3" revolvers. Wish my Model 65 was blued instead of stainless, but I won't be getting rid of it.
Here with a relatively rare 3" Model 632. Attached File |

I have a dozen. It certainly is... The 3" Revolver is very quick to present from the holster and allows for the front sight to get on target very quickly. With my N frames in both M24 and M29/629's the 3" barrel with either a 3/4" lug and/or a full under-lug balance very nicely for me especially with OEM "Combat" grips thus making for on target pointing almost intuitive. 3" barrels make for fantastic rigs both for the woods and suburbs (especially when equipped with ramped front sights with either bright orange, yellow, or red inserts.) I've shot mine so much that "staging" the double action trigger into single action mode is ingrained so much into my muscle memory that its automatic now. I find myself doing the same even with my wife's M642 (external hammer-less) Revolver the same staging way when on target as to get that SA trigger pull 98+% of the time. |

My first issue was a four inch M10. I wish I'd never turned it in. I carried a Python for years after that but now I wish I had that old M10.

About 10 years ago a friend from my club was heading south to retire and brought a 3" mod 10 down to the club. Beautiful older gun with spectacular blueing . Somebody who knew their stuff did a crazy nice trigger job on it. Myself and another friend were doing some dry fire with it and the trigger was so light we expected function problems. After we moved on to the range it shot perfect.
The owner said "i don't need a revolver , who wants to buy it?" How much? She comes back with "$100" . My stupid mind kicks in with wise ass mode and I spit out "Is it hot?" My other friend spits out the proper response . " I will take it" Damit! Turns out my friend had got it from someone in her family for $100 and felt guilty making money on the sale. Always regretted that missed opportunity! |

Those guns have commanded a premium for a long time. Why Smith hasn't flooded the market with three inch 65's is beyond me. |
