I know. Silly question. Bear with me though as here in IL, Suppressors are illegal so I have absolutely no experience with suppressors.
I recently picked up a new Springfield XDM 4.5 OSP. It comes with a Vortex Venom pre-mounted, several mounting plates, and two barrels. One is a 5.3" threaded barrel that comes installed and has a serial number matching the firearm. The other is the standard XDM 4.5" barrel that is not threaded, has a different serial number than the firearm, and comes separate in the case.
This pistol is not a defensive pistol and is never carried. It will see only range use and training class use. As long as I'm living where I am, it will likely not ever be used to host a suppressor.
Is it better to leave the 5.3" threaded barrel installed (it has a thread protector on it) for the slightly longer barrel? Or is it better to swap it out for the 4.5" barrel?
