I have a used TRR8 lined up for a good price but I'm having a serious internal struggle to buy it. I already own a GP100 Match Champion and a PC 686 SSR but I feel like the R8 is somehow different but then also kinda the same. Does anyone own something similar and an R8 that could give me a reason to lean one way or the other.

8-shots, moonclips!

What more reason do you need?

What are you going to do with it?  The 627 might be a better choice depending on your use.

Won’t do it, they are awesome. I’ve got a 325 TR, a bit less practical but a grail gun is a grail gun... would snap up a TRR8 in a second.

While the 686 is a good size for .357 Mag, the N frames are Cadillacs in that caliber.

It was taken in trade at work and I think I can get it for around $1000 maybe $900 if the boss is nice to me. Ill grab some pictures when I have time.

Ive seen a few of these come through the doors and every time I almost fo but second guess if I really "need" it.

That is my next real "want" in a revolver, but the price has kept me from them.

Had an M&P R8, was pretty happy with it for the most part. Biggest ding was that the trigger from the factory was absolute dog shit. Like 15lb DA dog shit. Not really acceptable in a $1100 gun. Added an Apex DAO hammer, slicked up the internals a la the Jerry Miculek DVD and did about 5000 dry fires and it was decent.

Not going to do it.  I want one but I have other $ priorities so it's going to be a while before I can pick one up.

I added a spring kit and a red dot, love it.

$900 for a used one is an OK deal.

So I misspoke earlier, it's a M&P R8 not the TRR8. Ended up at $870 out the door.

That's a pretty good price IMO. Are you going to add or change anything to it like grips or sights or anything?

First thing I did was take off the top rail and search for a front sight. Apparently  nobody makes a dx night sight so I’ll have to settle for something else.

From your picture it looks like the front sight isn't visible in the window??
What size dot did you go with??
Thanks for info, I'm thinking real hard about putting one on a 329PD and I have the Allchin mount bookmarked, also the Warne Multi Sight

Same boat. Been wanting one, sort of, for quite some time, it's just never made it to the #1 slot.

I know it's possible but I just can't picture attaching a light to the rail for some reason.

Yeah, I can't imagine being able to use a pistol light on that. Maybe with a specialized switch that extends to the grip.
I'd probably toss one of those novelty bayonets on it for more of a "fuck off" vibe at the muzzle end.

It's visible but I don't look at it, it's not needed.
I went with the smaller MOA dot, whatever that is as I forget at the moment. I used it on a Ruger 9mm rifle for a bit then moved it over to the TRR8.

Thanks, that is very helpful to me right there!
I was wondering if the front sight could be used if the dot took a powder.
I see in another thread where somebody uses the front sight with a white vertical line on the red dot, below the window, as backup. It looked like a decent solution to me.
I can see I'm just gonna have to put one on my N-frame.
