What’s the story on a stronger recoil spring for a gen 4 glock 20?

From what I gather, those high power 10mm rounds need a stronger spring to get the full velocity.

Anyone point me in the right direction?

I used a 22lb rsa from NDZ Performance that I bought from them on eBay in my P80 / Glock 10mm. Will probably use the same in my Longslide 10mm that is waiting for a back ordered slide. I might try 24lbs though.

Originally I had an OEM Glock RSA in the P80, but it seemed too weak when I shot some Underwood through it. The gun still cycles with typical store bought 10mm ammo too.

I also swapped to a 22lb ISMI spring, stainless guide rod and gen 4 adapter from lone wolf dist. No problem shooting the hottest bear loads all the way down to softer target loads.

What weight is best? I am thinking about just going as heavy as can be at 24lbs.

Will that still cycle a 10mm round that is more similar to the almost .40 loads that are out there?

I would go 22lbs. I have shot the heaviest underwood and buffalo bore loads without issue.  I can’t say how the 24lb handles the lighter stuff but I can confirm the 22lb does.  If I recall when I was doing research, the 22lb seemed to be the sweet spot for usability.

Once you have a steel guide rod assy, it only costs about 8 bucks to try a different ISMI spring.

Jager has the best assortment of RSA options for Glock.
If you go with a Wolff spring system, you can use a .270 rod.

What does the .270 rod afford me that the NDZ won’t?

I am completely new to this game. Never thought about upgrading this on any of my glocks until I wanted to start to play around with the 10mm.

bump for info. I just want heavier springs for smaller 9mm while using suppressor. My 26 and 43 won't chamber next round when shooting suppressed.

That's a good question. I just measured the NDZ rod and it's .250". Maybe the .270 rod adds a tiny amount of weight?

ISMI spring is a "flat wire" spring. (I think NDZ uses ISMI springs)
Wolff is a "round wire" spring.

The flat wire takes up more "room".
The round wire takes up less room, therefore the round wire spring can live on a larger diameter rod.
Not that giant of a deal, but big is better, IMO.

ETA
An ISMI spring cannot fit onto a Wolff guide rod.

I spoke too soon. After trying to take one of my ISMI RSAs apart, it's not worth saving 10 bucks. Just buy another one.
