I'm going to pull the trigger on a Staccato P in the next week or so, the question is do I spend the money on the DLC coated barrel or not? Also, new texture or original?

I would probably not do the DLC again.  Then again, it is a pretty inexpensive upgrade.  I would FOR SURE get the new "tactical texture" or whatever they call it.  My "starburst" grips got pretty slick in a class this weekend carrying IWB with no t-shirt.  YMMV.

I go back and forth. I kind of like the stainless barrel look on the black gun, but then again a DLC barrel should be easier to clean and if I'm spending that much money it's not like the DLC would kill me.

Threaded DLC or it aint worth the trouble.

I like the DLC.  Have not cleaned it yet but its slick and I don't care for the stainless look.  I also have memories of Kimber's unfinished barrels that would rust by simply looking at them.

Threaded DLC, I like the black look better and if I want to add a comp I can plus on a P it gets you 5in velocities. As far as grip I didn’t get it because I rather stipple it myself so that wasn’t worth the money to me.

I've had stainless and I have DLC. In my opinion, it comes down to what looks better to you.

The new texture is badass. I like it a lot more.

I really like the rich black DLC but it’s basically just personal preference, worth it to me when it’s that many bones being thrown down anyways.

It’s the same difference to clean really.

Fuuuuckkk. I want a C2 again

I dunno, cleaning the bore in a nitride barrel is stupid easy compared to untreated.

I think I'm going to bite the bullet and get the DLC.

I have the SS barrel on my C2. DLC or nitrided barrel should be standard.

I don't do anything but Boresnake a handgun barrel so SS and DLC are equal in that regard for me.

I have a steel P with a stainless barrel, and an aluminum P with the DLC barrel.

I originally did that to quickly tell them apart at a glance since they're otherwise setup identically.

As it happens, everyone who sees the DLC barrel version thinks it overall looks better.  Myself included.

At the end of the day, it's a looks thing to me.  They both clean up the same, as far as I can tell.

I do wish I would have DLC'd the barrel in my C2.

Good. Go with DLC. I had an XL with stainless barrel. After 7,000 rds it was pretty beat up looking.

I would go with the new texture. We have seen quite a bit of these come through our shop. I much prefer the newer texture than the gen 2 one.

If you’re looking to stipple or send the grip out I’d go with gen 2 tho as there’s a bit more material etc.
If you don’t want to stipple it then get the new one.

Here is the XL barrel after 7,000 rds.

I don’t care what my guns look like as I beat ‘em up… however it’s still quite a bit of wear compared to DLC finish.

Is it safe to assume you can't get the new tactical texture on a C2?

Right now it’s only for full size grips at least to our knowledge as dealers

Congrats!! You’ll be happy. Clean and lube it prior to shooting, Give it 250 rds of break in, clean and lube again, and you’ll be good to go!

I did the same regimen with my Staccatos that I do with all my pistols. Lube before each session and clean at 1000 rounds, although I'm now doing 5000 rounds on my Glocks.

I was told by Staccato that the new texture will be available on the C2 in 2023, and it is for sure coming to that model.

I'd 100% pay for the DLC.

Why not and it looks tits.

IMO wear on a coated barrel looks better than pristine, means it gets loved.

(ETA honest wear on nice things is beautiful)

I've got 1600 rounds on my C2 with DLC barrel and there's no wear at all. It still looks new.

Good to hear, I came here to ask that.

I was going to send one of my 1911 barrels in for DLC purely for cosmetic reasons.

I know. I've already priced mine out. Just waiting to pull the trigger.

My Staccato P is probably my fav suppressor host.  Definitely like the look of the DLC coated barrel.

Looks great with my Omega 9K and not that much louder compared to my bigger cans.

31 days from order to ship. Not bad at all! It's out for delivery today, not sure when I'll be able to pick it up. Maybe today, or hopefully tomorrow.

Well, I'm glad I did the DLC barrel. It looks pretty slick. The trigger is quite nice, the pistol is very tight. I really like the new texture over the old, and it balances well with my Mod9 on the front of it. I'm not used to buying such expensive weaponry.

I had to edit this post. I lubed it up with some CherryBalmz and hand-cycled and dry fired it for like 15 minutes in my office today and it's night and day difference in how smooth it was from just out of the bag. It's NICE. My Watch Commander just told me to do some actual work but I told him I'm busy.

Excellent! I had the same DLC vs. stainless debate. I normally prefer DLC, but stainless barrels gave me this milsurp vibe that I just dig, like my old beloved M57 Tokarev.
