Hello, I’m trying to replace the Springfield prodigy extractor and my new in doesn’t really fit it goes in maybe 7/8 of the way but not enough to get the firing pin stop back in place and not really enough sticking out to extract a round. Do I have to file down anything or should I try a different extractor? It’s an EGW

There is a plate mounting screw protruding in that tunnel.  Sad SA couldn’t figure that out, but it does not interfere with the factory extractor.
I pulled mine too, but just took tension off.  It seemed to be way too tight and I had random fails to fully chamber.  You too?

There is a big thread in the 1911 forum on prodigy,  CRW installed that same extractor and ground off part of the bulb.

I *think* mine is fixed, need a few hundred more rounds to verify.

Thank you, and I end up with failures to fully extract, I’m not 100% sure what it is so I figured I’d replace the extractor as a starting point

There are a ton of tips in that thread I linked.

My extraction has been fine, just occasional need to bump the slide to finish chambering.  Mine eats some SWC handloads easy.

I’ve had bad luck with factory WWB lately, if that’s what you’re shooting try something else.

There is a wealth of info at this link.
9mm instructions are after the .45 instruction, there is a difference.
