I am partial to the five inch version but that still looks like a nice revolver.

Quite nice. I prefer 4" 6XX's over other lengths for most calibers as the balance is just right.

I sold a 4 inch and bought a 3 inch. I all ready had the 5 inch

I used ot have a 5"
I miss it I'd load it up with 45 SUPER handloads ( 230gr 1150fps) and hunt deer with it. Very cool easy to load in the dark tree stand with moon clips. |

I took her to the range today and ran about 100rds through it. Accuracy was outstanding and recoil was less than the Les Baer TRS I also took along. Those RIMS 25 moon clips are the bomb. No more sore fingers. Here she is all dirty. https://i.postimg.cc/Lst2R5RB/743-AF17-A-EB9-B-4-E7-F-B623-0-D34-E619989-B.jpg View Quote |

So I load rounds straight into the chambers then dump them out after shooting. YMMV. |

Hello Guys, My buddy sold this to me today for a great price. It came with the original box, paperwork and even the cleaning tools. I had the 3” and 5” versions of this gun in the past. The 3” was too short and the 5” too long. This 4” is just right. View Quote |

I second the idea of chamfering the chambers. Had it done to my 625JM and the reloads are much easier.
|

[#20]
Looks just like my 625-8
Do not chamfer the chambers unless you compete or carry it for defense. Not even remotely needed for a range toy. I have the -8 and a 2016 PC. Both are used for competition. They are a ton of fun when shooting my reloads. Buy a moon clip loader and just make an unloader out of a golf club shaft (buy golf club in yard sale for 87 cents). |

Lose those grips ASAP.
I have the same gun 629 and I'm loving the VZ grips. |

Got a 625 JM. I will never sell it. It took a little convincing from the guys here to get one. Only regret was not buying one sooner. Enjoy

I own one exactly like it. Incredibly accurate and great recoil or lack there of.

I added a target hammer & trigger on mine, along with a white outline rear & red ramp front sight like a 629.
Wouldn't trade it for the world. And those plastic moonclips are the best thing that ever happen to moonclips. |

I have the JM model. I love mine. I use an empty 50bmg case as an unloaded. Push new ones on by hand.

Seems like a good spot to jump in. My recently purchased 625 JM dirty after some desert plinking.
Attached File Also some pics of a demooner I made from 6 " of 1/2" copper pipe with a T stuck on one end for leverage and a little work with a dremel on the other. Attached File Attached File Attached File |

Use old hollow golf club driver handles and make a similar demooner. They are long enough to hold several moonclips worth of cases and since golf club handles are tappered you can make several different diameter ones for your 45, 40 and 9mm revolvers.

One of my LGS's, has a Nice looking 5" 625 "Model of 1989" in their USED display
And their asking is just under $700. I got a JM 625 from them last year for $600.00. |

Personally. the Smith N frame with 5 inch barrel balances perfectly.
I have the 3 inch and have always been on a look out for a resonably priced 5" 625. |

Great gun, I have a 3" and 5" as well as Jovino(fairly sure) 25(forget the dash) he made into a 3" added another lock(forget the right name for it) and turned the grip into a round butt K frame....its a cool gun

Have the identical revolver. As you have discovered, it is a fine piece of engineering by Smith and Wesson.
