I am thinking of buying a full size Sig Emperor Scorpion. I was just looking to see how you guys that own one like it. I have been wanting a 1911 in 45 acp for awhile now. And kinda decided on this model.

Don't have that model but have a Sig 1911.  Awesome handgun.  Zero issues.

I have the older model, before they called it the Emperor, just Scorpion. Mine has been flawless. Very good 1911 for the money IMO

I also have the normal Sig Scorpion or older model. Thousands of rounds and zero issues. It’s a tight shooter.

Now I just have to find one locally.

I bought one about 2 months. I liked it a lot when I first got it... I have about 500rds through it now and I absolutely LOVE IT! It's a feaking sweet shooter, with zero hiccups. I probably have 6 or 7 different types of ammo that I have tried and it ate it all just fine. For the price range I think Sig 1911s are really hard to beat.

I am not sure if this makes me happy or sad. As everybody locally is sold out.

I was really after the commander size with the fastback but I settled on the full size because it was the only one local but the commander size is still on the short list.

You are correct. Got it on order and sending to my local FFL. Price was a few dollars higher and I will have to pay a $25.00 transfer fee. But I am still happy. Thank you for your help.

Same.

Some don't like the hybrid P220/1911 slide profile or the external extractor, but Sig makes a good 1911 and they have a good amount of features for the price

Does having the 938 Emperor Scorpion allow me to weigh in?

I'm sure the quality is the similar and I love it. One of the few small pistols I shoot every time I'm at the range. I'm sure the 1911 version will be great.

Are the SIG 1911s 70s or 80s??  I'm debating a Desert Warrior or maybe the Scorpion.  Love my standard Warrior, no issues at all.  Guess I want a FDE 1911.

I believe that all or the Sig 1911s are 80s

I have the fastback carry version and love it. Picked it up used.

I have about 900 round through it with out a problem. The finish has held up well. Now for me it took a little bit of time for me to like the color but hey it is a fastback.

Now about the finish, I found a little gun oil darkens the color a shade deeper. Wipe on then wipe off. Still tan but a shade darker but not oily.

I wanted the nightmare version but sig discontinued it at the time. Both are the same gun just cosmetically different. Now I see sig brought back the nightmare. Oh my bank account.

I thought so too in 2011.  Everything I read said quality parts, no MIM but the product line was pretty new.  They seemed really feature packed for a sub 1000 dollar 1911.  I got the original Scorpion that summer, the slide profile was fine with me and I read about a few problems with feed issues with the external extractor but figured I'd order an EGW.  I disliked the straight trigger though and ordered a Nighthawk 3 hole.

When I installed it I noticed that every single part was MIM, I mean everything.  I sold it along with the EGW upgraded extractor which I never bothered installing.  I guess when they first rolled them out they used quality parts then did a bait and switch, it pissed me off.

I had a Sig TacOps in .45ACP and liked it quite a bit.  I had two complaints with the gun:
(1) Not a fan of 1911s with series 80 safeties. I threw in a Brownells block off plate on mine.
(2) Sig proprietary slide means you wind up with Sig only holsters.  Less than optimal if you have several other 1911's

The Sig external extractor worked great, no complaints there.

It's a solid gun.  If the two points I shared don't bother you, I think you'll find the Sig a great addition to your collection
