I have a ruff looking 85F.
I'm thinking about using CCR to refinish it.
Either the factory looking black or INOX look that they offer.
They do a lot of work for Beretta Forum members ans seam like a quality shop.

Any input on this would be appreciated as this is my 1st go around with refinishing a firearm.

Function and a quality durable finish are my first concerns.

Thanks

I would.  I am going to send them one of my 81BBs in a few weeks.

If it looks rough it won't have any collector interest so do whatever you feel is best for your gun.

When it comes time to sell it, I would think a nice looking refinished gun would sell better than a beat up "surplus" gun.  CCR's  CPII finish would look great on it.

Had a 92S frame anodized by Allegheny, while not technically accurate (for a 92S), couldn't be happier!

Certainly not harming a collectible gun so if it being pretty is important to you by all means. My personal opinion is refinishing is almost never worth while. If you have a finish work working gun and refinish it eventually it will accumulate wear again and you will be back at square one.
As most all of us know refinishing a collectible gun destroys the value.
On non collectible less expensive guns the money to me makes little sense:
$300 gun
$250 refinish
Value of gun after refinish pretty
Much still $300.
Some will talk about rust and such but even when I lived in a rather humid area  never had problems with rust on my finish worn guns and I am not real fussy about keeping them oiled/ wiping down regularly or anything.
I guess if you live in the Deep South or other hot humid region and have a gun you carry frequently and found rust to be an issue, then perhaps it makes sense.
For a commonly available gun it might actually make more sense to just buy a new gun:
Current value of finish worn gun: $250
Cost to refinish:$200
Same gun brand new $500
For fifty bucks more sell old get new

Do it if it makes you happy; as others have mentioned, it won't add value to your pistol, but it will provide greater protection and cosmetic appeal.

I fent again.

I picked up an 84FS in really nice shape.

I'm leaning towards refinishing the 85F.

Pics please.
Especially if you have some nice or different grips.

Refinishing is almost always a money losing proposition. And yes I’ve done it.  On an 84F I’d probably just hit it with some Oxpho Blue  and call it good

I would, it’s not a collectors item. Refinish it, shoot it and enjoy it. It’s your gun

OP didn't mention selling it for a profit.

I'd say go ahead and make it different and something you'd be proud to say you brought back to life.

Geez, new guns can be safe queens...this one could be something special.

ETA:  I'd go INOX'ish.

I was thinking INOX before I got its big sister 84FS . Actually the pistol I want to refinish is an 85F. I just recently picked up an 84FS that is almost NIB.
Going to make a title change.

For an INOX, I may make a franken-gun and make it nice.
