I've got 1k rounds of 45 auto SEMI WAD CUTTER... lead projectiles.

I debating pulling all the projectiles or shooting them up, but I only have semi auto 45s.  I don't think they'd feed well, and I'm slightly concerned with build up since they're not coated.

Would you shoot these through a 1911, glock or PCC?

I have shot wheelbarrows of that stuff I have loaded.
One of the more accurate bullets in my 1911s.

Only drawback was they leave a lot of crap in my progressive dies and my guns. Very reliably feeding when loaded properly.

Leading of the bbl and cleaning it out ?  Depends on the bbl and bullet.   Not that hard to clean but a pain compared to any jacketed/plated/coated bullets.

Shoot em.

Shoot them all the time in semi autos.

had feed issues with Glock 36 mags and at one time you were recommended "no lead bullets" in the Glock barrels.  Lead buildup problems.  1911 shoots them great.

My Colt 1991A1 loved SWC rounds. Just as reliable as FMJ and very accurate. When I was casting lead for .45 ACP, 200 gr SWC was my go-to bullet.

I shoot thousands of 200 grain LSWC's and merely hundreds of jacketed 185 and 200 grain SWC's in my 1911's.  It's rare I shoot anything else.

No issues.  They shoot great.

Same. I have 3 1911s and I reload tons of 185gr LSWC and never have any problems.

200gr swc is my blasting ammo. 255gr swc at 850fps is my edc load

Ummm actually OP. Ignore every post in this thread except mine.  Semi wadcutters are unable to feed in any handgun and in fact are likely to irrevocably damage both the gun and brass. As a public service you may send them to me and I’ll properly dispose of them.  I’m just looking out for ya here buddy!

Btw as I’m sure you recognize the above is 100% bs. (Except you really CAN send them to me!) assuming they’ve been loaded properly they’ll likely feed and function superbly. The only hitch may be if they’re loaded lightly for bullseye shooting they may be too weak to cycle most guns.  I’ve shot MANY pounds of such bullets and they work perfectly.  Seating depth matters though and for my guns if the bullet ‘lip’ aka shoulder, is between 1 and 2’thumbnail thicknesses out of the case, the round feeds perfectly.

Shoot them and enjoy!

My old 200gr SWC reloads are the most accurate loads I have ever fired.

I found an old box that was dated '95, about the time I stopped reloading. Still the most accurate by far but I did have some jams. Maybe they "swelled" in the 25 years sitting around or maybe I loaded them, seated the bullets, for a gun I sold many years ago and my new Colt with the match barrel doesnt like it. Who knows but if/when I reload again for the ACP, it will be with 200 (or maybe 185) SWC.

185 and 200 gr SWC work great in all my 1911s.  No lead buildup and no problems feeding, just clean the pistol as normal after each session.  The nice clean holes they cut look great!

And they do not have to be all that hard either.
Pure lead works well.
Used to buy them swagged from close to pure lead.
They have to be loaded to the correct length.
The shoulder of the SWC should be barely above the mouth of the case.
That way the nose hits like an FMJ on the feed ramp, and the shoulder of the SWC
matches what an FMJ present to the chamber and feed ramp.

When I was competing I chased down a set of magazine forming tools that
allow you to adjust the release point of the bullet from the mag lips.

Hammer the lips flatter, then use the shaping punch to bend them in.

When I first started with the 1911 I reloaded carroll or Northeast bran LSWC.   They were too hard and would lead.

My own cast with wheelweights and lubed and sized shoot with minimal leadung.

shoot a box or two.   Look down barrel.  If it is horribly leaded, brush it out and shoot some more.

I have shot lead through all of those things with no issue.  Some 1911s won't feed them without cleaning up the throat/ramp area.

Same with a PCR, I had to widen my ramp a touch.

Clean your Glock a bit more often.  Will run fine.

The geometry of the G36 and G30 does not make for feeding of SWC type bullets.  They are service handguns not target pistols.

I like SWC out of a 1911 but unfortunately I don't own a 1911 anymore. Ive tried loading some up for my Glock 41 and FNX Tac 45 but those guns just don't like the bullet profile. Now I'm stuck with a bag of 1000 185gr plated SWC bullets. Perhaps I should buy another 1911.

I’ve probably cast and shot more 185 and 200 SWCs than any other load in my .45s.

Until the rise of Production class competition, the 200 grain H&H #68 lead semi-wadcutter was probably the most popular target bullet in the world.

Still probably the #1 1911 target bullet.

I'd have no problems shooting them in a 1911.  Only been doing so since the early 90's though.

Shot many tens of thousands of those in years of practice and competition.

For decades in 1911's I used wax lubed lead SWC's indoors with a lead rated mask and I stopped shooting lead when I started powder coating. Use them up, the only issues are dirty barrels and a smoke filled range. If you have many thousands, get a lead rated mask.
