I'm working on a C96 and I found that the safety on the pistol works different than I see on Youtube,

Mine works like hammer block, when I have the safety on, and I pull the trigger the hammer falls

but does not hit the firing pin. The ones I see On YouTube, does not let thr hammer fall

when the trigger is pulled, what is going on?

Are you sure it's a C96 and not the later M30?

What you described is how the M30 safety works.

If it has a barrel with a step and doesn't take magazines like this it is most likely an M30. If I remeber right the M30 serial numbers start in the 800,000's.

There is also the possibility that at sometime in it's past a C96 had its internals replaced with those of an M30.

Yep, it is a M30 like you said. I did some more checking on-line and

found out it is a early M30 Ser#807XXX. I also found out that they

were all 7.62mm, this one has a Red 9 on the grip and it looks like it

was bored out to 9mm. Well, it is very clean on the inside, but it looks

like the mag well was machined smoothed, it shoots Ok, but high right,

is it worth anything? it was $1200

Oh, thank you for your help and information

Broomhandle prices are all over the place, but that seems high to me.

It was most likely imported from China when loads of them came in.  Bored out/barrel replaced due to years of corrosive ammo and lack of cleaning.

What you have is a shooter in an easy to find caliber. Enjoy it for what it is and check the bolt stop every time you clean it after shooting.

Always glad to help when I can.

Is there an import stamp or a name on it? Oyster Bay did a bunch of these and re barreled to 9mm.

I saw that about the Oyster Bay conversion, also it said

that Mauser also did some. I looked all over the pistol for

stamp OBI, did not see any. I think you are right about it

was a Chinese Import.
